Troubleshooting activation issues in AVG products

To troubleshoot activation issues, refer to the following sections in order:

If you experience any issues during the activation process using an activation code, retrieve a copy of your activation code from the AVG website or your AVG Account to exclude the possibility that you entered an incorrect activation code.

If you still cannot activate your subscription, uninstall your AVG application by following instructions in the relevant article below:

Verify your Google Account

The steps in this section only apply if you purchased your subscription via Google Play Store. If you purchased your subscription using a different sales channel, proceed to reinstall your product.

After uninstallation, ensure you are signed in to Google Play Store with the same Google Account that you used to make the purchase. Follow the steps below:

  1. On the Home screen of your device, open Google Play Store.
  2. Tap Menu (three lines) in the top-left corner.
  3. Select Subscriptions.

You see a list of the subscriptions linked to the current Google Account. If the account that you are currently signed in to is not the same account that you used during the app purchase, follow the instructions in A or B below:

  1. Tap the current account name or email address to see a full list of accounts, then select the Google Account that you used to purchase the app.
  2. If you don't see the correct account listed, follow steps in the section Switch between accounts ▸ Switch accounts on the Google Play website on a mobile device in the following article from Google Support:

Reinstall your product

If you are connected to the correct Google Account, reinstall your product and activate it again:

  1. Open Google Play Store.
  2. Search for avg and select the product you want to install, then tap Install on the app info screen.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete initial app setup.
  4. Activate your product again.

Uninstall your product

If you are still unable to activate your subscription, uninstall your AVG product using the steps below:

  1. On the Home screen of your device, touch and hold the icon of your AVG app.
  2. Select Remove App.
  3. Select Delete App to remove the app and all of your app data.
  4. Tap Delete to confirm uninstallation.

Verify your Apple ID

The steps in this section only apply if you purchased your subscription via the App Store. If you purchased your subscription using a different sales channel, proceed to reinstall your product.

After uninstallation, ensure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that you used to make the purchase. Follow the steps below:

  1. On the Home screen of your device, open the App Store.
  2. Tap your profile image in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Subscriptions.

You see a list of the subscriptions linked to the current Apple ID. If the ID that you are currently signed in to is not the same ID that you used during the app purchase, tap Sign out. You can then tap Sign in to sign in with the Apple ID that you used to purchase the app.

Reinstall your product

If you are connected to the correct Apple ID, reinstall your product and activate it again:

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for avg and select the product you want to install.
  3. Tap Get to download and install the app. When installation is complete, tap Open.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete initial app setup.
  5. Activate your product again.
