Troubleshooting activation issues in AVG products

If you experience any issues during the activation process using an activation code, retrieve a copy of your activation code from the AVG website or your AVG Account to exclude the possibility that you entered an incorrect activation code.

Check if you are connected to the correct Google Account

After uninstallation, ensure you are logged in to the same Google Account that was used during your purchase.

If you do not remember which account you used for purchase, open Google Play Store and tap Menu (three lines) in the top-left corner, then select Subscriptions to see a list of subscriptions linked to the currently selected Google Account.

To check which Google Account you are connected to:

  1. Open Google Play Store on your Android device and tap Menu (three lines) in the top-left corner. Your currently connected Google Account is listed at the top of the screen.
  2. If the account that you are currently logged in to is not the account used during your purchase, follow instructions in A or B below:
    1. Tap the current account name or email address to see a full list of accounts, then select the Google Account that you used during your purchase.
    2. If you don't see the correct account listed, follow steps in the section Switch between accounts ▸ Switch accounts on the Google Play website on a mobile device in the article below from Google Support:

Install and activate your product

If you are connected to the correct Google Account, reinstall and activate your product again:

  1. Open Google Play Store.
  2. Search for avg and select the product you want to install, then tap Install on the app info screen.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete initial app setup.
  4. Activate your product again.

Uninstall your product

If you are still unable to activate your subscription, uninstall your AVG product using the steps below:

  1. On the Home screen of your device, touch and hold the icon of the app you want to uninstall for a few seconds.
  2. Tap the small X that appears in the top-left corner of the icon.
  3. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your device.

Check if you are connected to the correct Apple ID

After uninstallation, ensure you are logged in to the same Apple ID that was used during your purchase. Follow these steps:

  1. On your iOS device, open device settings and tap iTunes & App Store.
  2. Verify that the Apple ID visible at the top of the screen is the same ID that was used during purchase. For instructions on how to verify this, refer to the following article from Apple Support:

Install and activate your product

If you are connected to the correct Apple ID, reinstall and activate your product again:

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for avg and select the product you want to install.
  3. Tap Get to download and install the app. When installation is complete, tap Open.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete initial app setup.
  5. Activate your product again.
