Installing and activating an AVG product

How can I download and install an AVG product?

Follow the steps below:

  1. Click the button below to open our download and installation help page: Download and install your AVG product
  2. Use the Choose your product drop-down menu to select your purchased product.
  3. Use the Choose your platform drop-down menu to select your platform.
  4. Click See Installation Instructions, then follow the on-screen steps.

Your AVG product is now installed and ready to use.

Which AVG product(s) did I purchase?

AVG offers several different kinds of product subscription. Some subscriptions are valid for multiple products, whereas other subscriptions are valid for just one product. You can verify which products are included in your subscription using one of the methods below:

  • AVG Account: Sign in to the AVG Account that is linked to the email address you provided during the subscription purchase, then click the Subscriptions tile. A list of the platforms that each subscription is valid for appears under Install on your devices. Click the down arrow next to a platform to see a list of the individual products that you can use.
  • Order confirmation email: Locate the order confirmation email that you received after purchase (usually from no.reply@avg.com). Scroll the the Getting Started section, and verify the valid products and platforms under Download.

Activation Code

Where can I find my activation code?

You can find your activation code in one of the following locations:

  • The AVG Account that is linked to the email address you provided during the subscription purchase.
  • The order confirmation email that you received after purchase (usually from no.reply@avg.com).
  • Another AVG product that you have already activated using the same activation code.
  • The activation card that was included with your purchase in an AVG box or plastic case.
If you are unable to locate your activation code, you can use the AVG webform to request that the activation code is re-sent to the email address you provided during the subscription purchase.

What can I do if my activation code doesn't work?

First ensure that you have correctly entered your activation code (including hyphens). We recommend copying and pasting your activation code directly from an order confirmation email or your AVG Account. For detailed instructions on locating your activation code, refer to the following article:

How can I get an AVG Account?

An AVG Account is not created automatically when you purchase an AVG product. To create a new AVG Account, click the button below:

To ensure that your new AVG Account is linked automatically to an existing AVG subscription, register the AVG Account with the same email address you provided at checkout.

What can I do if activation using my AVG Account is unsuccessful?

We recommend first ensuring that your AVG Account is linked to the AVG subscription that you are trying to activate. You cannot activate a product using your AVG Account credentials if the subscription is not already linked to your AVG Account.

To verify which subscriptions are linked to your AVG Account:

  1. Sign in to your AVG Account and click the Subscriptions tile.
  2. Verify if the subscription that you want to activate appears on the My Subscriptions screen.

If the subscription does not appear on the My Subscriptions screen, it is not linked to your AVG Account. We recommend contacting AVG Support so that we can manually link your AVG subscription with your AVG Account.

Can I use my product on more than one device?

AVG offers several different kinds of product subscription. Some subscriptions are valid on multiple devices, whereas other subscriptions are valid for use on just one device at a time. You can verify the device limit for your subscription using one of the methods below:

  • AVG Account: Sign in to the AVG Account that is linked to the email address you provided during the subscription purchase. Click the Subscriptions tile, then verify the device limit for the relevant subscription next to Available for.
  • Order confirmation email: Open the order confirmation email that you received after purchase (normally from no.reply@avg.com). The device limit for your purchased subscription is included in the subscription details under Product Name.

If you have already reached the device limit for your subscription, but you want to start using your purchased AVG product(s) on a new device, you can transfer the subscription from one device to another.
