Activating a paid version of AVG AntiVirus on Android

A subscription purchased via Google Play Store activates automatically on the device you use to make the purchase. If you purchase your subscription through another AVG sales channel, such as the AVG Store, you need to manually activate the app using a valid activation code or your AVG Account.

Before following the activation steps in this article, ensure the latest version of AVG AntiVirus is installed on your Android device. For instructions, refer to the following article:

Activate subscription

This option only applies if you purchased your AVG AntiVirus subscription through Google Play Store.

If you want to start using your subscription on a new device, or if you reset your existing device, you can restore your AVG AntiVirus subscription via Google Play Store:

  1. Ensure you are signed in to Google Play Store with the same Google Account that you used to purchase your subscription. For instructions on how to verify this, refer to the following article:
  2. Open AVG AntiVirus and tap Upgrade in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap (three dots) ▸ Already purchased?.
  4. Select Restore From Google Play.

The app automatically retrieves and activates your AVG AntiVirus subscription from Google Play Store.

To activate your subscription using an activation code:

  1. Open AVG AntiVirus and tap Upgrade in the top-right corner.
  2. Tap (three dots) ▸ Already purchased?.
  3. Select Redeem an activation code.
  4. Type or paste your activation code (including hyphens), then tap Use This Code.

Your AVG AntiVirus subscription is now active.

Troubleshoot activation issues

If you experience any activation issues using an activation code:

  • Ensure you have correctly entered your activation code, including hyphens.
  • Use our webform or your AVG Account to retrieve a copy of your activation code, then try activating the subscription again.
  • If activation using your activation code still doesn't work, try following the instructions to activate using your AVG Account.
