blank window

The AVG program started to play up - no access to the User Interface.
I uninstalled it and re-installed it several times, including using the recommended Remover and Clear applications.
The result is always the same. The AVG icon at the bottom right is crossed out and the message is "system is UNSECURED". Clicking it or the User Interface gives just a large blank white rectangle on the screen. There is no way to make a change.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to fix the problem.
I am running XP.

Also the installation now asks for over 2GB of disk space before it will run.

Hello, Eric.
Please make sure that your computer has met the minimum system requirements to install and run AVG as mentioned in this article.

Thanks Avanish,

My computer meets the minimum requirements, AVG was working fine till it did the last update a couple of days ago.
I think I am really reporting a bug. As it went astray after the latest update.

I have now uninstalled it all yet again and installed again using Antivirus_Free_1856.exe this time instead of the current installer (for variety). It seems to be running properly for now.

Eric,
Glad to hear that your AVG is working fine now. Please open AVG Anti Virus free, click on Menu -> About and provide us with a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of that window. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
