Firewall

I've just installed AVG Ultimate and I have most of it turned on but in the 'Hacker Attacks' section I can't turn on the Enhanced Firewall. I click to turn the system on and the man turns green but the slider below remains red and after a few minutes the man also reverts to red.

Thanks for such a quick response, I was up half the night trying to work out what was wrong. It looks like it will be another late night tonight as internet here is so expensive I can only do things like this after midnight. If possible, I wondered if you could answer another few questions to save me time later:
  1. I bought the Ultimate version of AVG because I wanted it on all of my devices. I'm assuming it will work fine on an Android tablet and an Android phone but will it also work on a Windows phone?
  2. When I download AVG to these devices do I do so in the same way I downloaded it onto my PC or do I have to access something via the app store?
  3. Will I encounter the same problem with the Firewall on those devices too?
  4. Does the link you sent download everything the same as the version of Ultimate that I bought?
  5. I also bought AVG Secure VPN but when I go to download it, the page tells me that either the security certificate is out of date or I'm being hacked. Both concern me so what's going on?
Thanks

My Enhanced Firwall is also Red, the button does not work. I can click the button and get the icon above the switch to go to green, but that is a stuck thing not related to the operation of the slide switch. The bad Button, icon in green, but the switch is still stuck.

With the best will in the world, that's not really good enough is it? When I bought AVG Ultimate last night, I bought it based on the description of the product that included a highly effective firewall. I even bought a two year subscription yet I now find that an important part of the package doesn't work and a fix is to be released at some unspecified point in the future. That could be any time from next week to next year and in the meantime the computer that I've spent all that money trying to protect is vulnerable. Will my two year subscription not start until the date when you have a product that actually works?

I also bought the Ultimate package because the description said I could protect all of my devices and the important word there is ALL of my devices. Nowhere in the description did it say 'all devices except a Windows phone' so as both my wife and I have Windows phones, this effectively means that half of the devices I paid to protect, can't now be protected. Why don't you make that clear in your description? Are you going to refund part of my money because your product can't live up to its description? I've spent a lot of money here yet it turns out that my mobile phones can't be protected at all and the protection I have on my PC isn't much better than the free version of AVG. Actually, it's worse because at least everything on the free version worked and I had the Windows firewall whereas now, Windows Defender just tells me that AVG is controlling the firewall and that firewall doesn't exist!

Hello Andrew,

I understand this must be upsetting but the issue with Firewall was unexpected.
However, we assure you that the issue will be resolved at the earliest.
Yes, AVG unlimited devices are compatible with (Windows - PCs, Laptops & Tablets and Android - Smartphones & Tablets).
It can't be installed on iPhones, iPads and Windows mobiles.
We have already started to work on to mention the compatible devices through email for customers.
You can submit the feedback regarding this from AVG Internet Security settings.
Click on "Menu-->About-->Submit Feedback" from Internet Security interface to get it done.

I'm a bit confused now as your first response to my query was that I uninstall AVG Ultimate and install a different version of Ultimate from somewhere else but a later response seemed to suggest that doing this would be a waste of time and I'd be left with the same problem until such time as a fix was found. Which is it and in the meantime, what am I supposed to do to protect my computer while I'm online as what I paid for appears to be useless. Of course, while I don't have the protection I paid for, I see you're more than happy to keep my money!

Andrew, the issue is actually with AVG Firewall component but the other components will be working fine and it will protect your PC.
The fix for firewall issue will be released as soon as possible.

So do I uninstall this version and download the other one or just wait for the fix? I seem to have had both sets of advice so far.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Andrew, if you have 18.3 version, please do not uninstall.
Wait for the fix to get released.

Well, I only bought it last night and installed the link that was sent to me so I assume it's the newest version but I have no idea how to check that. I'll sit tight for a while and keep checking for updates.
