Updating the virus definitions

AVG for Android keeps saying that I need to update the virus definitions, but when I tap on the update button AVG says that I am using the latest version

I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. Our developers are aware of this and confirmed an update will be released soon with a fix. Meanwhile, I ensure your device is protected and request you to keep the auto-update of apps is enabled in Google play store. Click on this link https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/113412?hl=en for instructions to enable it if you have not already.

Once the fix is rolled out, you will get a notification and the AVG app will be updated automatically. After updating AVG app, restart your device and check for the status.

Unable to install setup "Driver Update"  which means I can't install this program which I've paid for.

Could you confirm whether you are trying to install "AVG Driver Updater" or "Driver Update" program?
If you are using AVG driver updater, then let us know whether your email address registered with AVG ends as @cableone.net?

I'm looking at these posts from 2018 and I am having this same problem in Aug. 2019. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and continue to get the same results. The same page where it states that my virus definitions were up-to-date as of 5 days ago yet there is that blaring "virus defs are not up to date. I guess I'll just uninstall Avg. I keep getting this background windows sound alert but it then sounds like it closes with no alert showing.

Let's have a look at it together. Do you receive this issue on your Android device? 
If so, please contact our Android mobile team using the following link( http://avgclick.me/AVGtechnical ) select as Android in OS field, choose yes for paid version, fill out your details and click email option. AVG mobile team will reply back to you via email.
If you are facing this issue on Windows devices, let us know if you have used AVG Clear and Remover tool during uninstallation.
