Uninstallation Password

I am trying to uninstall the AVG Antivirus Free version from my computer and it keeps asking for a password. I have reset my password through the AVG website, but apparently that is not the same password. Any ideas on how to uninstall or change my password?

Thank you.

Hi Seth,

We're glad to help you with this.
From your description, we see that you're being prompted to enter the settings password. It is a feature that prevents unauthorized access of AVG program. It is different from AVG account password.
To ensure this, please let us know if you receive the prompt titled 'Authorization - An attempt has been made to enter protected area' while trying to uninstall.
Also, let us know the reason to unisntall AVG Antivirus Free. If we're of any help, we'll help you with that.

Thank you for the information.

You can't uninstall the program from the control panel since you forgot the password.

However, you can use the clear tool to uninstall the program.

For AVG Clear tool, use this link https://www.avg.com/en-us/download-thank-you.php?product=REM

Run the file and when you get AVG clear window loading, you will get a prompt with Yes and No option. Click on "No" and then select "Uninstall" to proceed with the removal.

Restart the PC when the prompt appears.

Let us know, the status of the issue.
