Win 7

Win 7.0 Pro will not be supported after Jan 2020. Question is -- can I trust AVG Internet Security and Tuneup to protect my system after Jan 2020? Or? Best suggestions please -

Hello Iris,

We are aware of the news released regarding the end of life for Windows 7 operating system on 14th January 2020.
We assure you that you will be able to use our AVG Internet Security and AVG TuneUp products on it.
The only thing is that the Windows will stop the security updates and support for it which might not cause any immediate effect with our program.
We will be able to come up with an update regarding this only after the operating system reaches its end of life.
In-case, if you come across any issues with our program after the operating system reaching the end of life, do contact us immediately.
Thank you.

Thanks. I'm sure that AVG will update effectively to work on Win 7.0.

My worry is about hackers devising new ways to access Win 7.0  in 2020 when no Microsoft security updates are forthcoming to block them -- does AVG plan to protect Win 7.0 systems from that threat in 2020 and beyond?

You are most welcome, Iris.
As of now, we didn't receive any updates regarding this.
However, let me escalate this to senior team and get back to you.
Your patience is much appreciated.

Thank you for waiting, Iriz.

First and foremost, we strongly recommend all Windows 7 users to upgrade to the latest version of Windows, prior to the "End of life" as announced by Microsoft. Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows 7 on January 13, 2015, but extended support will end January 14, 2020. Simply said, "End of life" means Microsoft will discontinue all support, including paid support; and all updates, including security updates.

AVG has not yet made an official announcement of Windows 7 "End of life". I am certain there will be an official announcement as we get closer to the "End of life" date.

It is likely that AVG will manage the "End of life" for Windows 7, as it handled Windows XP "End of life" in 2014. In other words, AVG would continue to protect Windows 7 users with regular virus definition updates. However, AVG won't be able to provide program updates, new features, bug fixes, or support for Windows 7 beyond January 14, 2020.
