License Renewal and Activation Codes

This has been a long running saga and I thought it had been solved with the last conversation I had with tech support about a week ago but alas it continues and I'd like some assistance please to try and get this sorted once and for all.

Cutting a very long story short I've had AVG (paid for) IS and TuneUp for years and everything was great up until about July 2018 when the company and the products went through a massive change and update, since then things seem to have got out of control.

My AVG products came for renewal on 4th October 2019, this time I purchased a one year license/activation code for Internet Security and TuneUp for 3 x PC's. Questions are as follows;

1. Could someone explain why it’s necessary to have an Activation Code to be then given a license number when the product’s been activated, why not just get a new license number in the beginning? Then sometimes it’s not always necessary to input the new license and what is the difference is?

2. Managed to get both working on 2 laptops but the 3rd hit problems that's when I was put through to tech support who looked at it and gave me a new Activation Code (not license). All seemed okay then on boot up next TuneUp was switched to a 30 day trial with 29 days left??

3. I posted this query about a week ago but it appears to have been taken off without my receiving an answer.

4. How do I resolve this and get the full blown version of TuneUp that I've paid for? In my last question I asked if it was necessary to uninstall then reinstall but then that begs the question do you have to run AVG Remover and if so will this wipe the Internet Security product as well?

5. Finally I go to my account like being advised to do so everytime I contact AVG only to find there are still no subscriptions or my products listed?

If I don't receive a satisfactory answer and solution this will continue to get longer and longer!
Thanks

Latest - first Activation Code says it's already been used and yet it's supposed to be for 3 x PC's but only installed on 2 and the latest "new" Activation Code for TuneUp says "Activation Key is invalid"

Apart from all the mayhem and lost time this is causing I am now presented with yet another phrase "Activation Key". Does anyone have any control over what's going on at AVG these days?

Hello Peter.
We regret any inconvenience caused to you in getting the new subscriptions activated.
We'll certainly clarify about the activation code and help you with activating AVG TuneUp. Please find below the answers to your queries.

1. When you buy an AVG product from a reseller (which you did), you will receive a registration key from them. This registration key starts with "TE" for AVG TuneUp and "IE" for AVG Internet Security. These are temporary and one time registration keys which you need to use to register the products with us. They cannot be used to activate the products. Their sole purpose is to register the product with your AVG MyAccount since you bought it from a 3rd party.

Upon successful registration, we will send you the full license number to your registered email address. They start with "TM" for TuneUp and "IM" for AVG Internet Security. Recently, we've introduced a concept called 'Activation code', which is a master code that can be used to activate all AVG apps across all platforms. With this, you do not need to maintain separate licenses for each AVG product. In your case, you can either use the activation code or the full license numbers that was sent to your email address post registration.

2. I'm sorry that AVG TuneUp on your 3rd computer is running as a trial version. Since you are experiencing issues with activating the product using the activation code, I have sent an email containing instructions to get connected with our remote assistance team. Make sure you contact them from the 3rd PC, they'd be glad to resolve this.

3. I'm afraid we do not leave our customer's queries unanswered. I see that you asked a query on 5th Oct 2019, and we have responded to it.

4. If you had to uninstall and reinstall AVG TuneUp, we'd request you to uninstall it from control panel. AVG Remover tool is designed to detect and remove 2017 and earlier version of AVG programs. So running AVG Remover tool will not remove either AVG TuneUp or AVG Internet Security.

5. Please accept my apologies that your active subscriptions are not listed when you login to AVG MyAccount. AVG product visibility in your AVG Account does not impact the functionality of previously installed products, nor does it affect the installation or activation of newly purchased AVG products.
We need a screenshot of your AVG MyAccount saying no active subscriptions to resolve this. Once our remote technician resolves the activation issue, raise this query to them. They will collect the screenshot and escalate it to concerned team for resolution.

Hope I have answered all your queries to your satisfaction. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need further clarification.

Hi Avinash,

Further to the problems I am still having (albeit a month down the line) getting the renewal license code to work for the renewal of IS and TuneUp which I recently purchased. To recap I but a 2 year license for 3 PC's every 2 years, some history is shown in the email trail below.

We communicated in early October when I managed to get a license code to work but now it seems to be happening all over gain saying I've got 12 days in which to register. I posted a question on the the Community Support Page around 09/10/19 but didn't receive a reply. I've continued as is thinking it will correct itself but not so to where I now need a permanent fix. This happened on registering TuneUp on my 3rd PC and got a notice stating that I have 12 days to register the product. I looged in, in the hope it would pull my license details from my account but it didn't so I entered the license code I was given but it still says I have 12 days left to register the products.

Also it would appear that the products I have purchased are still not regsitered in my account and I've been with AVG 10 years or so!. Then out of nowhere as though it's been fixed I receive an email asking me "How Did We Do" and when I respond it says the URL is corrupt??

I'm not sure what's happening but it's confusing to me! Should I give up and get my money back and buy a different product altogether?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,
It is indeed disappointing that you are contacting us multiple times regarding the same concern.
I went through the entire conversation and please be assured that I will do all that's necessary to have this issue taken care.
It looks like your AVG TuneUp program awaits re-activation or you are having the older version of the program installed on your PC.
Before confirming it, please share us the screenshot (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=AVG-Create-screenshot&supportType=home) of the AVG window requesting you to register the product (12 days to register).
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on "Answer" & then click on the "Image" [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Hi Priyanga,

Thank you for your response, please find the Ist and 2nd screenshot of TuneUp registration I get on starting the program on my 3rd PC using Windows 7 as requested below. I do not feel that in the interest of security that I share the activation screen in the community for obvious reasons and again I'm suprised that you have requested this. If you require further information to resolve this then please send me an email that I can actually respond to please?

I click on Activate and insert the license key given beginning with Q whereas before it began with T. The one beginning with Q was given by Tech Support but I think I now know what's causing the problem. When this was given I had yet to successfully install both IS and TuneUp and have successfully installed IS on 2 PC's and TuneUp on one. I was led to believe that I should use the license beginning with Q for all IS and TuneUp installs but it's occurred to me that the reason I cannot install anymore is because the Q license code has already been used 3 times.

So in the above window if I click activate and insert the code beging with Q I get the code is invalid whereas if I insert the original key I had beggining with T this is what gives me the 12 (or 11 now) days free trial left.

AVG need a more simpler process of codes, acivation codes and license keys terminology.

Plus I still cannot see the products that are registered to my account when I sign in. Can someone at AVG start putting things right PLEASE?

Regards,
