AVG Antivirus is already installed, please uninstall the previous version first.

Not sure what is meant by a new post but here is what I posted yesterday with the reply.

I have the same issue as Anthony.  So far after much searching I have no leads on how to proceed.

I get :"Installation Error
AVG Antivirus is already installed, please uninstall the previous version first.

I can not detect any evidence of a previous version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

However to check your subscription details, we request you to create a new post and we'll certainly assist you further.

I did have a subscription.  It did expire.  Using the removal tool I removed it.  I thought I would like to reinstall AVG free and once working would get a subscription again.  Now for weeks I have been trying but sill no luck.

Thanks for all the emails however the links sent of redownloads the AGV Free which I have already downloaded and won't run because of having tells of a previous version burried somewhere on the Mac.  The link was the same and when ran gave the same results.  The first reply said "Download and run the uninstaller available in the attachment."  I never did see an attachment.

I have tried a munual method using text editor but it can not find any traces.

Peterr, the second email that we have sent should show you the attachment of the uninstaller.
It will definitely help you to remove the traces.

I think the uninstaller might be the answer to my problem.  I think this is the app I used when I removed AVG ages ago.  I did not find an attachment on the second email or any email.  I also responded from my cell phone as that is the device that picks up my email but AVG saying it was turned back as it could not identify my email address.  It further stated, "Reply to the original" and of course that is exactly what I was doing.

I have searched for the uninstall.  I even tried a manual method with terminal but can not detect any trace of AVG.

Could you please send me a link to uninstal for Mac and attach same to an email.

thanks again for your patience with this very frustrating situation.  We will get to the bottom of it eventually.

Hi,  I guess I need a bit more specific guidance.
What is the address of: AVG Remote Support website?
Where do I find the form: Fill in the short form?

I looked around a site I thought was the correct one but could not determine where this form was.

I have the same problem which I think may be linked to when I use to have Parallels Desktop installed on my IMac and I used AVG when running Windows.  Parallels has been removed but when I try to install AVG I am told it is already installed and must be removed.

Hello,
I have the same issue. My paid subscribtion of AVG Internet Security suddenly stopped to work and when i try to install it again, it says "Installation Error :AVG Antivirus is already installed, please uninstall the previous version first." i cant uninstall because avg is not opening so i deleted manually all avg files including library files but still it gives the same error. please help i am about to get crazy!

Hello. I am having the same issue and cannot find a single file left from avg on my mac. I used the uninstall option which was successful. Now if i try to reinstall avg i get the error "AVG Antivirus is already installed, please uninstall the previous version first." Please help. I have tried for hours to get this sorted. Thanks

Hello Anthony, 

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. We will help you to resolve it. If the AVG old files not removed properly, user might face these kind of issues. 

Refer the below steps to remove old AVG files: 

1. Open Finder
2. In menubar select Go > Go to Folder...
3. Type /Library/Application Support/ and his the enter key
4. Locate and delete AVGAntivirus folder
5. Reboot computer and AVG should be removed

Now, try to install AVG on Mac and let us know. Thank you.
