AVG is blocking incoming connections

After a Windows 10 update, AVG started blocking incoming connections to one of my Windows machines. It is not happening on the others.

So I can't ping the machine or connect to it over the network. If I disable the firewall then the ping goes through. I checked the System Rules and the ping settings are set to enabled. I also tried to change the network from private to public and back, but that does not work. The only way to get it to work is to uninstall AVG and then install it again. But the problem reappears after a reboot.

Please help.

Hello Johann.
We're here to help.
Please make sure that 'Allow Windows File and Printer sharing' option in AVG Firewall's system rules is enabled and verify the issue.

It is on.

I tried both enabled and not configured. Same result.

Thank you for replying, Johann.
Enable "Internet connection sharing mode" option in AVG Internet Security firewall and check with the connection.
Follow the below steps to enable the option in firewall.
Open AVG Internet Security --> click Menu --> select Settings --> click Full protection --> Enhanced Firewall --> check/enable "Internet connection sharing mode"
Keep us posted.

Thanks it looks like that sorted it out.

But is this mode enabled not a security risk?

We understand your concern, Johann.
AVG Internet Security will scan all the networks connecting with the computer.
Enabling Internet Sharing mode option will not affect the security of your computer.

I have exactly the same problem. I have a new computer / device on our network. I checked it's IP (192.168.1.x) and it's a known device.

I had file and printer sharing allowed on my network (in Windows settings). I switched on the "Allow incoming file and printer sharing over SMB protocol) in Basic Protection - Firewall - Firewall Rules for Private Networks (it's blocked for Public Networks).

I looked in the Full protection tab but there's no Enhanced Firewall option listed. Has it been disabled in the later versions (I have 22.7.3245)?

(I notice from previous forum posts that the menu options keep changing - usually disappearing - from older versions. Is there a kind of search option to find the exact setting panel directly? Or a general index of settings in alphabetical order? That would make it much easier than running round in circles in the maze of options in the current interface!!!)

Please write back to us in your own post to proceed further.
To address your query, the firewall options has been changed in the latest version.
Thank you in advance!
