AVG keeps stopping

My AVG Internet Security keeps stopping and when I open it, it has the message that it has run into a problem and needs to restart. Most of the time it won't restart, but when it does, the tray icon has an exclamation mark on it. Sometimes when I reboot, it resolves, but not always. I have tried repairing AVG, but it is still happening frequently.

Hi Santhosh,

I have now done this three times and I am about to do it a third time as it is still happening. Would it be worth doing a clean reinstall?

It doesn't always restart after this, and it doesn't always tell me it hasn't (though it does sometimes). This means that I never know whether I am protected or not without constantly hovering over the tray icon.

Yes, it is worth reinstalling the program as you have already tried repair.
We request you to run AVG clear tool as mentioned in this article.
Once the traces of AVG Internet Security are removed, install the program as mentioned in this article.
For activation, refer this article.
Use the code that we have sent via email now for activation.

Hi. Sorry for delay in getting back. Have had a lot to deal with with this pandemic and work service users. I'm sure you know about that! I wanted to give it a few days before updating information and the time just got away. Anyway, thank you for your help. I did the uninstall, reinstall and reactivated and have had no problems since. I also noticed another post that said that the full version of Malware Bytes conflicts with AVG, so I have reverted to the free version. I'm not sure that was the issue though, because I have had MB for a long time without any issues.

Glad to know that, Marc. Thank you for updating the status. There cannot be multiple protection program on the same computer, as they'll conflict with each other & none will work effectively. Have a great day!
