disable secure DNS

I need to disable secure DNS, but even when following a guide to do so I'm unable to find the secure DNS option in my AVG. I would really appreciate some help.

Hello Nicky,
We are here to help you.
Secure DNS is renamed as Fake Website Shield and you can find this feature in Menu option.
Open AVG Internet Security -> Menu -> Settings -> Components -> Fake Website Shield -> turn on / off.

Thanks!

the problem still remains though, since when I’m at “components” my only options is:
File shield
Behavior shield
Email shield
Web shield

there is no “Fake website shield”.

is it “web shield” that I should turn off?

Hello Nicky,

We'll clarify this for you.

Could you confirm whether you're using AVG AntiVirus free or AVG Internet Security trial/paid version on your PC?

AVG AntiVirus free

Thank you for providing us the information, Nicky.
Unfortunately, the Fake Website Shield is unavailable in AVG Antivirus Free. It is available in the paid version of AVG protection program.
Would you be so kind to let us know the reason to disable it?
Nicky LandinNicky Landin
So you are saying that in order to disable secure DNS I have to have the paid version?

Anitger good reason to change change to another AV I guess.

No, Nicky. Let me rephrase the previous reply.
AVG Free Antivirus doesn't have the Fake Website Shield.
As it is unavailable, it couldn't be the cause of the issue. Hence, we've requested for the reason to help you with the available options or suggestions.

Well, the reason for wanting to disable it is because I don’t want any dns leaks.

Thank you for letting us know the reason, Nicky.
Please let us know where you found the workaround to disable Secure DNS which you mentioned in your initial description.

I haven’t found a way, that was the reason of my question to begin with.

And since you couldn’t help either I have to switch to a antivirus that allows me to block dns leaks.

Nicky,
Thank you for the info.
Fake Website Shield (Secure DNS) is a feature included in our paid version of AVG Internet Security which protects you against DNS (Domain Name System) hijacking to ensure you get to the actual website you want to visit.
To enable this feature, you should get paid version. Here, you are trying to disable it. AVG Antivirus Free version doesn't include this feature.
