How to pause/temporarily stop AVG?

Hi - Google Chrome takes about 10 seconds to load (or display any search results) on my new i5 HP laptop. I'd like to pause AVG to see if there's some kind of conflict. But when I right click on the AVG icon to get to the stop option, and click 'Protection is On' to 'Protection is Off', the option to select 'yes' doesn't work!

How else can I pause/temporarily stop AVG?

Thanks,
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
Hello, Derek.
As an alternative way, you can enable the Passive mode from AVG program settings. Passive Mode disables all active protection, such as Shields and Firewall.

1. Open AVG Internet Security.
2. Click Menu > Settings.
3. Click Troubleshooting, and then slide the red slider to the right to enable Passive Mode.
4. Restart your computer to make the changes take effect.

Could you also provide a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the 'Yes' option that does not work? Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions to upload it on this thread.

I also followed you above instructions. The outcome is the same - yes/no options that won't respond. I attach a screen shot of that too. Screen shot 2

Hi Avinash - here's the screen shot. While the no option counts down, neither options respond when you click on them.Screen shot - AVG yes/no options

Thank you for providing the screenshot.

Please run AVG repair avgclick.me/RepairAVG and check if you are able to disable AVG.

Hi - this worked. Thank you. I have now been able to disable AVG, test Chrome and have re-enable AVG.

With AVG disabled, Google Chrome performs searches and loads sites a lot faster!  Is it possible that AVG is significantly slowing Google Chrome? Anything you/I can do about this?

Thank you for letting us know the status.

Please open AVG Internet Security, click on "Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize".

Click on "Network Profile", change the profile to private if selected in public.

Click on "Policies->System Rules", enable all the settings that are not configured.

If you face any difficulties after changing this settings, please let us know and we will assist you further.
