AVG Advanced Firewall prevents Sonos Controller on Windows 10 connecting with Sonos System
I have the latest version of AVG Ulimate on Windows 10. When the Enhanced Firewall component is installed and runnning, the Sonos Controller program on Windows 10 cannot find my Sonos Players. I have set up the firewall to allow inbound access to all necessary ports according to Sonos instructions. Still the Sonos controller reports that it cannot connect to the Sonos System. If I disable the Enhanced Firewall and activate the Windows 10 standard firewall it works perfectly.
A similar problem has been reported here in the past with an older version of AVG Free Firewall (I think) and that was resolved (how?). Has anyone had similar experiences with Enhanced Firewall and Sonos?
Hello, Andrew. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. Please check if AVG firewall is configured with below recommended settings or not.
Open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Network Profile and change it to Private. Open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Policies->System Rules and set all rules to "Enabled".
Make sure the above settings are applied and let us know if the issue persist.
I re-installed the AVG Enhanced Firewall and set it up as you suggested. All System Rules were already enabled. At first I couldn't find where to set the Network Profile to Private. After a few minutes the MACs of my router and of my PCs ethernet adapter appeared in the list of Network Profiles. Once they appeared they were already set to Private so I didn't need to do anything.
And my Sonos Controller can now connect to the Sonos players. All is well. Why it didn't work first time round is a mystery to me.
I am happy to hear that your issue is resolved. This issue might have caused due to an incorrect configuration in firewall settings. After reinstall all settings must have set to default.

But it now works so thanks very much!
