I have done this. View my case 05280780. I am tired of being passed from one tech support to another and also being referred to my telco with no resolution. I have used clean up tools to no effect and also passed  to remote control on several occasions. The problem is Root Kit SVC:swcustcfg. I believe this is preventing me from backing up my laptop. I am not a computer technician I only drive the thing. Not the mechanic. I believe this is due to a conflict between AVG, and remnants of a Sierra wireless modem installation, but as I said I only drive it not repair.

Thank you for providing the case reference.
I see that your case was handled by our level two technical team and they suggested you to remove the traces of Sierra (Telstra) application.
Since you are facing the issue still, please follow the steps that was sent recently by our level two team to get further assistance.
If you don't find the email in inbox do check in spam and junk folders.

Have AVG found a solution to this VERY annoying issue yet?  I have exactly the same issue as Lester, have followed all recommended steps from AVG and still no resolution.  It's got to the stage where I'm unable to use my laptop.  Surely there must be a simple fix!!
