'cache.ga'

After installing AVG antivirus on my MacBook I noticed it leaves a file called cache.ga in my home folder. Is it safe to delete this or is it needed to run the program? Thanks.

Hello Shaun,

Thank you for your patience. I have checked the file with our senior team and it seems that "cache.ga" doesn't seems to be an AVG file. So I would suggest you remove that from your computer.

Regards,
Bhuvana, AVG Customer Care.

I've got the same issue after I installed AVG yesterday... When will the version 18.3 be available?
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello Nadine,

The exact timeframe for the release of 18.3 version is not yet known.
I request you to keep updating your AVG Antivirus to know about the status.
Your patience is much appreciated.
Thank you.

At first you say it isn't part of AVG and then you say it is. You say a update is coming but it has been 4 months. Preventing something 'unknown' on my computer is why I download AVG. cache.ga seems to be an uknown file (even by you at one point) "Thank you for your patience. I have checked the file with our senior team and it seems that "cache.ga" doesn't seems to be an AVG file. So I would suggest you remove that from your computer" .

I will stop paying for and will now uninstall AVG.

Shawn, we were not sure initially but after receiving same query from other AVG users, we have collected logs from them for analysis. Our developers have confirmed that it is a bug and it will be fixed in next program update. We do not have any news regarding when the new update is releasing yet.
