Viber 8.2.0 virus alert

Hi,

When I try to install Viber 8.2.0, the installation fails because I get a virus alert. The alert says "We've moved QtCore to your Virus Chest because it was infected with MacOS:InstallCore-ER [Adw]."

Viber was cleanly downloaded from Viber's website. Is this a false positive? Or has Viber been infected with a Virus?

Cheers,
Peter

Peter,

Sorry for the trouble, it might  be a false detection. Please share screenshot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361 of that detection message, provide us your MAC OS version http://https//support.apple.com/en-us/HT201260 and
AVG version.

To find out the version you can follow user manual, part 4.3. Menu in the task bar
http://files-download.avg.com/doc/AVG_AntiVirus_for_Mac/avg_avm_uma_en_ltst_03.pdf

As full path of detection is not fully visible from UI very often, please provide us with the full path. You can copy the path by right click on the detection path and paste it here.

Hi there,
the same problem here, the latest AVG update has block my desktop Viber on the MacBook.
Is there any simple way of making Viber running again? The system says my Viber is out of date. When downloading the fresh one from Viber.com, the AVG does not allow to install. Strange.

Thanks for advise
