Internet browser is blocked because the connection is not secure

Since a couple of days my internet browser is blocked for reasons of insecure connection. The websites I tried to reach seems to have invalid certificates. AVG AntiVirus seems to block this, and I tried to uninstall AVG AntiVirus on my Mac (IOS), but this is unsuccessful because AVG Remorer can't be launched due to the same problem.
Also the Web Shield option of my AVG Antivirus can't be closed due to " an unknown error".
How can this problem be solved?

Hello Jan,
Yes, you can find the library in Finder (Finder > Go > Go to the fonder) and type ~Library or you can Press Command+Shift+G to go to the Library. After that, /Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/com.avg.uninstall.app, you have to run the file com.avg.uninstall.app to uninstall the existing AVG program.
Best regards,
Alok.

Hello Jan,

I apologize for the inconvenience. It seems that AVG program got corrupted when trying to install the new update. Please Run uninstallation of AVG manually from /Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/com.avg.uninstall.app

After uninstallation, refer this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-for-Mac to reinstall it.

Note: AVG remover tool doesn't work on MAC, its only for Windows device.

If you face any difficulties, please provide the screenshot of the error message to assist further.

Where do I find /Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/com.avg.uninstall.app? Is this on your website, or in my IOS or Finder? By the way, my computer uses Dutch language, so please give a descriptive indication where to find it.

Hello,

Again I was not able to complete the above advice, for after the command /Application Support/AVGAntivirus/.... there is no item called components. This is what I see:

folder:  hub
folder:  nss
file:      version.tag

How can I proceed?

Jan

Jan,
We appreciate your efforts, go to /Application Support/ and try to delete AVG Antivirus folder completely to check with the status.

I deleted the complete folder, despite that the App is still working and is blocking my browser.

Jan, please restart your device once and check if AVG is removed completely. If not provide me the screenshot of the "AVG folder" to check and escalate the case.

AVG was not removed, see screenshot.

Jan,

If you are able to open AVG Anti Virus interface on your Mac, please try to uninstall the app from menu bar as per the instructions in this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG-AntiVirus-for-Mac. Please also let us know on which web browser are you experiencing this issue.

Hello,

When I open AVGAntivirus on my Mac (either via the icon in Launchpad or via Finder > Programs > AVGAntivirus > Open..) The AVGAntivirus window or interface is presented, which however doesn't present a menu bar. The article on how to uninstall AVG AntiVirus for Mac doesn't provide any help.

The browser I use is Safari.

In contrast to what I wrote in my first message, the Web Shield option (turned on/off) is now working again, so I am able to turn it off and use the browser, allthough unsecure.

Hello Jan,
I'm really sorry to hear that you're still experiencing issues with uninstalling AVG Antivirus for mac. The above horizontal line in Mac computer called Manu Bar.
When you open AVG Antivirus on your computer, you will find "AVG Antivirus" near to the Apple symbol on the top left corner of your computer (I have attached the screenshot for this)User-added image, click on that and select uninstall AVG Antivirus > click Uninstall > It might ask you to enter computer password > after that the uninstallation process will be completed. Please let me know if you're able to uninstall AVG Antivirus from your Mac computer.
Best regards,
Alok.

I am sorry to have to tell you there is no "AVG Antivirus" visible near the Apple symbol after I have opened AVG Antivirus, like the example in your reaction.

The Bug is also on Windows, so uninstall and reinstall is bullshit!
The AVG Certificate for the "man in the middle hack" for the https traffic analysis is corrupt.

Hello,

Simmilar problem on my laptop, although there is "AVG Antivirus" in the menubar. However, clicking on this is impossible, so I also lack an " uninstall-button"  there. See screenshot.

Jan, please open folder /Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/ and run the "Uninstall AVG Antivirus for Mac" file. This will run the uninstallation script. If the issue persits, please let me know to escalate the case.
Jan Van ZeijlJan Van Zeijl
Hello,

Finally, this was the solution.... in the last part of the folder the uninstallation script is given to run in "Terminal".
By the way, I was attended to this solution one hour earliers through the Apple Support Community.

Thanks anyway for your support.
