lam fenix AVG secure browser?
I dont know how.... but my computer really installed a browser call "AVG secure browser".... without my permission, even I don't even know when it installed.
I try to search your product list, and I didn't found any product call "AVG secure browser".
That is a chrome with AVG extension. Here is the screenshot. It has been installed in my office computer. I wonder if you guys have this type of product.
Yes, the AVG Secure Browser is our free program. It's getting installed while installing AVG Antivirus Free/AVG Internet Security.
There will be a check box at the first page of AVG Antivirus Free/AVG Internet Security installer. You have to uncheck the box "AVG Secure Browser" to skip it's installation.
You can uninstall it from control panel > program and features, if you want to remove it from your computer.

Essential AV software does not need permission. Optional nonsense like this does. You should not be installing software without permission.

Before the AVG update, you must have got an option to uncheck "AVG Secure Browser" from installing.
If you have not unchecked this option, AVG will automatically install and make this browser as default.
All these information will be available in the update pop-up from AVG.
I booted up my PC and logged in to find the AVG Browser installed and opened trying to do first time setup.
As Kevin said it is not cool to just install software without permission, it is a massive breach of trust. Adobe did a similar thing a few years back and since then I no longer trust updates from them.
There was no promt of at any point, the browser was installed automatically with no notification of any kind (other than the browser starting with windows).
I'll be looking for another antivirus since I installed AVG to keep unwanted software OFF my computer and this is exactly the opposite of that.
I turned on my PC, logged in, and the AVG browser opened on its own.
I have since uninstalled AVG and installed another antivirus application.
I thought AVG was a good choice, but it feels opposite. I got unwanted software, unwanted shortcuts on my desktops and unfamiliar windows opening without asking. Typical malware behaviour.
I just had this exact same thing happen.
I switched my computer on and a browser appeared that looked very similar to Chrome. It also included my normal bookmarks in the same style as Chrome.
The only thing that made me realise was that the default search engine had switched to Bing..
I've had AVG for about 7 years now. I've put up with AVG's constant spruiking of their own software, but THIS is too far.
You keep saying that there was a check box for this installation, but I guarantee you there was not. I always uncheck any unnecessary boxes. And this check box you talk of was simply not there.
If AVG wishes to install software, it should be bold, highlighted and in clear sight for the user to choose. Not non-existant.
How is this not a form of Adware????
I will be removing AVG from my computers and no longer recommend this product to others, as I have been doing for the last 7 years.
That's unfortunate. This shouldn't have happened with AVG update, it might be due to some technical glitch. We have forwarded this to our developers team where they will check & work on it.
The option to opt out from installing AVG Secure Browser is available at the bottom left of AVG Antivirus/ Internet Security installation window.

I always remove the tick marks like I did in the original installation, but if this was my moms computer it will be installed because she will click to continue and next time she uses her browser I will be getting a call about stuff I did not install on her computer and I will have to wait until I get to it in order to understand what it is, when it comes on the computer, berate my mother about how to use her computer, which she will forget instantaneously. I am going to cyckle through different antivirus until I find the least intrusive and most intuitive and least lame implementation. AVG is certainly not the best. Next time I want my mom to call me when a box suddenly appears and tell her to cut the power and start again choosing Start Windows normally and cross her fingers.
Let me give an explanation about this.
When you are installing or updating AVG Internet Security. You will see an checkbox option at the bottom of the interface to install AVG Secure Browser. If the option is unchecked, AVG Secure Browser will not be installed on your PC.

I'm sorry to hear that AVG Secure Browser didn't work as expected. The actual name in Task manager would be the same AVG Secure Browser. Let us reinstall the browser and check if the application works good. Please uninstall (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Uninstall-AVG-Secure-Browser)and reinstall (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Use-AVG-Secure-Browser)the application to check the status. If you still encounter the issue, requesting you to create a new post and share the possible error screenshot.
If it persists, we can collect some logs from your PC to analyze them and find the root cause.

The browser chromium. It was made because avg could not make a secure extension for chrome and the way they make money by advertisement was disabled by google chrome. The reason it was disabled is because avg extension put chrome users at risk by mitm attacks putting users data at risk. Either way chromium and WebKit based browsers are unsecure browsers. The private browsing part is also not as true as the developers would have you believe. Avg is in fact selling your browsing history. I would advise users to completely remove agv and update windows defender. Windows built in antivirus is currently the best on the market and comes with every windows 10. And it is free.
Just check the link between avg browser and avg program. It is sending telemetry back to avg. particularly the history of searches. Only major difference between chrome and avg is who is getting your search history.
