AVG Rescue CD / USB

what MORON decided to do away with the 'AVG Rescue CD / USB' utilities? this is/was undoubtedly the MOST USEFUL thing AVG offered! BOOT LEVEL SCANNING is the ONLY truly viable way to check a computer for virus' and whatnot. All I need at the moment are the virus definition files (.bin) to update my AVG Rescue USB so I can continue to use it. The 'HORRIBLE NEW WEBSITE' has a link to them but as usual the link goes somewhere else
<https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-update-AVG&q=manually+Updating+the+virus+definitions&supportType=home>
here is a section from that webpage:

B. Updating AVG offline (from a local directory)

If you need to update your AVG from local disk (e.g. when the Internet connection is not available), follow these steps:

  1. Go to www.avg.com/update.
  2. Select the update files you need (typically Virus definitions and All necessary modules for your operating system) and download them to a portable media, e.g. a USB flashdisk.
  3. Open your AVG program.
  4. In the menu Options, click Update from directory.
  5. Navigate to the folder where you stored the update files, and click OK.
step 1 link takes you to <https://www.avg.com/en-us/free-antivirus-download>

I am really pissed off with AVG about this. I not only need the virus definitions for updating the AVG Rescue Utility but I have a number of client computers that only get online (NO internet browsing) for networking to remote company computers so these need to be MANUALLY updated. If this isn't resolved quickly I will advise ALL my clients to dump their PAID AVG products and go elsewhere.

Hi Jay,

We realize this must be upsetting.
The offline method of AVG update is no longer available with the latest version of AVG.
This website www.avg.com/update was active earlier, but now this has been removed and the offline updates couldn't be downloaded.
The updates for old version is no longer available and to get the latest updates, it is necessary to have the new version installed.
To update the latest version, the program has to be connected to the internet.
As of now, AVG rescue CD/USB is no longer available.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

as usual, stupid dumbass morons 'improving for the worst'.
I will be advising my 27 clients (63 paid products total) to cancell ALL with refunds and go elsewhere.
I have been a staunch advocate of AVG, but no more. you suck

wow, 1st time in years I've needed to create a Rescue USB and found this - why on earth would AVG remove something so useful and vital? - guess it's off to another Virus program soon then!

Hi Ade,

We've stopped the distribution of AVG Rescue disc. Our developers might take it into consideration & would work on it in the future.
In the meantime, you can try running the boot time scan using AVG Antivirus.

I have been using the AVG Rescue disc for years and have a usb key in my desk on standby.  I needed it yesterday, only to notice the definitions were badly out-of-date after an overnight scan.  I then found these answers in the forum.  In particular, the removal of access to updates rendering the rescue disc useless is a wanton act of destruction.  I have been recommending AVG over AVAST to my clients for quite a few years, saying that AVG focussed on the central task and AVAST had become bloatware.  To withdraw a key feature of your product is just foolhardy.  Only netiquette prevents me from using stronger terms.  DCBO

Greetings,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused here.
AVG Rescue Disc was discontinued long ago after feedback from customers.
You are welcome to share the feedback regarding this.

ok no problem, I am the same as you, but I have it clear, if I cannot have the "rescue cd live" I am not interested in the rest of the products bye

Hi Nonas,

As mentioned in this post, the Rescue disc feature was discontinued earlier.
If you prefer to submit a feedback regarding this to the concerned team, you can do so by : Opening AVG Antivirus - Menu - About - Submit feedback.

Just throwing my hat in the ring here.  I have also removed AVG now from all of my systems, and the systems on each worksite.  The rescue CD was the one redeeming factor for AVG, and you removed it?!  I suppose the rumours are true and you guys really have messed up management over there.  Yikes.  Also, Dinesh, to leave feedback in the way you mentioned, we would need AVG installed.  That ship has long since sailed.
