AVG blocking access to Gmail and Facebook

I can not access Gmail and Facebook in the Firefox browser when AVG AntiVirus is activated. Everything works fine when I deactivate AVG.
Is there somehow a way to solve this problem without having to deactivate AVG completely?

Samuel, open AVG > Menu > Setings > Components > Webshield - customize - Uncheck Enable HTTPS scanning > Confirm OK.

We would also recommend to check and remove competitive AV software and browser extensions/addons.

Hello Samuel,

This isn't the expected behavior.
Are you experiencing this issue on Mac or Windows computer?

I can access Gmail and Facebook in other browsers when AVG is activated, but not in Firefox. In Firefox AVG needs to be deactivated in order to access Gmail and Facebook

Hello Samuel,
We would like to understand more about the situation.
Let us know which components of AVG blocking your Gmail & Facebook access.
Open AVG Internet Security -> Menu -> Settings -> Components -> turn off each components and check the status.
Have you tried to add those sites to the exception list?

When I turned off the Webshield I could access Gmail and Facebook.
I tried to add the sites to the exception list, I could then access Facebook but the site was really slow to load and it did not work for Gmail

Thank you for the information Samuel,
We request you to repair AVG Protection (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG) and reboot your computer once. After reboot, please check if you can access all websites with enabled AVG Protection.
Regards,
Alok.

Thank you for the information Samuel,
My apologies for delay in handling your case. The issues might be because of old/previous AVG traces. I request you to remove AVG completely along with any previous traces using the AVG clear tool/AVG Remover tool and then do a fresh installation of AVG Antivirus Free.
Please follow the instruction ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product ) to run AVG Remover tool and AVG Clear tool. Click here () to download AVG clear tool.
After the computer reboots, you can follow the instruction to download/install AVG Antivirus Free.
We also request you to reinstall Firefox application and check the status.
