temporary turn off avg

I need to temporarily turn off AVG. There are no Options - Advanced Settings or Temporarily turn off AVG on my menu bar for this 2018 AVG Internet Security version. ONLY 'My AVG' and 'Menu' are on the upper bar. Under Menu the Settings has nothing either. Where do I find this function?

Hello Kent,

You can turn off your AVG temporarily from your system tray.

Open your system tray by clicking on the arrow key on the bottom right corner of your screen.

Then right click on the AVG icon and turn off your AVG.

Thank you for you reply but I'm still stuck. There is no Arrow key bottom right except a Refresh symbol?? beside Virus Definition, which then opens another screen with General - Components - Update and Troubleshooting tabs on the left. Right click on the top left icon or anywhere else does nothing.
There must be something I'm doing wrong as this seems like a very simple function. Please help. Thank you

Kent, we actually referred to the bottom right corner of your PC screen.
No problem. You can disable AVG internet security from its settings.
Open AVG Internet Security, click on "Menu-->Settings-->Troubleshooting-->Passive Mode".
Use the available On/Off slider cursor to turn off the protection temporarily.
Keep us posted.

Bottom right of PC makes sense now. Don't know what I was thinking.
Did it from AVG Menu and that worked perfectly. Slid Passive bar to GREEN and warnings came up etc. Have loaded the software update I needed for another program and will slide Passive to RED now. Thank you for your assistance!! Whew

You are most welcome.
If any of the trusted program update was blocked by AVG then you can add that program to AVG's exclusion as mentioned here.
To whitelist that application, you can submit the file information through this https://www.avg.com/whitelist-program-application link.
