AVG Free on Old Windows XP PC

I am trying to re-install Free AVG on an old XP machine.  The download works fine but setup.exe will not run as it reports that it is not a valid Win32 application.  Any ideas what could cause this?

Hello Gordon.
We'd like to inform that AVG AntiVirus free 2019 is not compatible with Windows XP.  However, you could download and install a 30 day trial of AVG Internet Security 18.8.
Click this link https://install.avcdn.net/avg/iavs9x-xp/avg_internet_security_setup_offline.exe to download the setup file and run it.
