AVG Activation Code for Driver Updater software failing

After having bought the AVG Driver Updater software 2 days ago, the supplied activation code keeps failing with 'there was problem with trying to activate'. I am connected to the internet and the code I am using is the one provided under subscription. I would have thought this was a fully automated process but it appears to be a connection to the AVG server to confirm the activation code that seems to have the fault. Fully appreciate the situation customer support are under but is anyone else having this problem ?
If so, and no fix is in sight I will just cancel the credit card payment.

As it isn't recommended to share the registration key over this post, we've sent you an email including it.
Please check & let us know if you've attempted to use the same key to activate Driver Updater.

After changing the DNS settings, try activating AVG Driver Updater with the code we provided.

Thank you for your response. Before I start changing DNS server setiings on my PC what will the effects of this be e.g. risks etc...  and should I then change the settings back to what they were ?

I have changed the DNS server settings and performed the instructions as provided by AVG. The activation still fails with the same failure message.
If there is no other solution, please can you advise how I get a refund ?

If you have any third party AntiVirus program, please turn off the program and try to activate the AVG program again.
