Ran an AVG update on a Windows 8 computer. On reboot the computer failed to start. Tried creating and using an AVG Rescue CD as well as a Windows 8 installation CD. Neither would boot.
Thanks AVG for making my life miserable. Great that AVG has caused a problem and has passed the buck on resolving the issue. Time that I put out a warning to everyone I recommended AVG to that they can't trust AVG to be there after they destroy your computer.
This isn't the usual behavior of AVG program. Let us work towards fixing the issue. Please let us know what happens exactly while booting your computer. Do you receive any options or message? If so, please share us the snapshot of it using your mobile/camera for better clarity. Meanwhile, you can attempt to boot the computer in safe mode & check.
We're sorry to know that, Kevin. In this regard, we'd suggest you to perform a power drain on your computer to check if it helps (depending on your device model).
Performed a power drain and now there is even less activity on the computer when I try to boot up. CD drive only activates momentarily then nothing . . .
I apologize for that, Kevin I request you to restart the PC for three times continuously. You will get an advanced option. Please let us know what option you see, so that we can help you further. Keep us posted.
Unfortunately, there is no other go other than contacting the local technician or Windows Support to help you out. I apologize for the inconvenience caused so far. Thank you.

To know the exact message on the PC, I request you to take a image and attach in this post.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on "Answer" & then click on the "Image" [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
In this case, I request you to check is you are able to do a system restore.
