AVG AntiVirus Free is stealing focus from my apps again. It's most noticeable when I'm playing a game in full screen, then my game minimizes and I have to go back into my game.
This has been a known issue for years. Why has this not permanently been fixed yet?
Here is an example from my focus logger: 8688:C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\focus.exe | Mon Apr 27 09:10:48 2020 11752:C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\Antivirus\AVGUI.exe | Mon Apr 27 09:57:56 2020 8688:C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\focus.exe | Mon Apr 27 09:57:57 2020
I have Do Not Disturb turned on. I've restarted. Every time I reinstall, the issue comes back eventually.
If I have to uninstall it again, I'm not bothering with reinstalling it. FIX THIS ISSUE.
We're glad to look into this & help you. As we're uncertain about this issue, we need to check this with the next level of support. Once we receive info from them, we'll write back to you. Your patience is much appreciated. Thank you for your understanding in advance!
As I pointed out before, this has been a known issue for years, and looking back at previous posts about this, the response has always been "the issue is being escalated".
Why has this bug not been completely removed from any code? It seems the issue sometimes gets fixed in an update, but then it comes back after another update.
Hi AP. Appreciate your patience. It looks like we need a few more details from you to analyze the situation. What is the name of the game that you play? Is it an online or offline game and which operating system are you using? What kind of pop ups are you seeing from AVG AntiVirus free when you play the game?
It doesn't really matter what game I'm running, because I leave the focus logger turned on overnight, and when I wake up, there's 2-4 incidents where AVGUI.exe has taken focus away from whatever window was open (Firefox or the focus logger).
It seems like focus is returned for non-full screen mode apps. But, as others have stated numerous times in other tickets, full-screen games minimize to the desktop before returning focus.
But, it was World of Tanks, an online game. OS is Windows 10, version 1909.
Again, as others have stated previously, there are no pop-ups. It just minimizes to the dekstop.
Looking at the focus logger, it only says AVGUI.exe was what stole focus from whever had focus before (in this case, a game).
I recently started trying AVG (free version) and encounter the same problem - evey so often, AVG will temporarily steal focus. There is no time to take a screenshot. Hard to believe this has been a recurring issue for years and apparently is unresolved. Will uninstall and try a different product.
I have been reading threads about this going on for over 3 years...
it is happening to me as well, I will be in Chrome Browser using FaceBook, writing a post, I will be writing the post and the browser will loose focus, I either have to alt tab back to the browser or wait 5 seconds after the browser has lost focus...
This is annoying as hell...
Please fix this.
I am using:
I am using Windows 10, version 1909 MalwareBytes 4.3.0

To be honest, I expected no response. This issue has been raised over and over and users seem to get the same run-around. By now, your techs have descriptions, version numbers, logs, and such screenshots as are possible. I think the issue is in their hands.
I understand how frustrating this is for you. This issue has been addressed and fixed in our recent update of AVG and we request you to check if you have the latest version installed. To check the same, please open AVG Internet Security, click on "Menu->Settings->General->Update". Also, you can check the version of AVG from the below location.
Open AVG Internet Security, Menu->About
If you still face any difficulties, please let us know and we will assist you further,
We're sorry to know this, A P. Open the AVG AntiVirus > Menu > About. Please let us know the version of your AVG AntiVirus to proceed further. Thank you.
AVG is regularly doing something which causes a Windows title bar flash. Sometimes it is a suppressed notification activity (like telling me that Adobe Acrobat may have compromised a password years ago), but still the title bar flash is invoked. I am so tired of drag-dropping something and getting the drop at some random point along the way.

Could you explain when does AVG Antivirus steals the focus?
Is it while playing a game on your computer?

It went away for quite awhile, but now it's back.
I saw there was an update, but that did not resolve the issue. I'm going to uninstall and look for alternatives products.
Open the AVG AntiVirus > Menu > About. Please let us know the version of your AVG AntiVirus to proceed further.
Thank you.
