IDP.ARES.Generic

My computer updated windows last night before I went to bed when I got back on today and scanned my computer I got this detection pop up "reg-msi inventory.exe infected with IDP.ARES.Generic" I moved it to quarantine restarted scanned again and it popped up a second time,I looked it up and saw it might have to do with a temp file causing a false positive so I deleted my temp files (safely of course) restarted scanned again,it popped up a 3rd time,so I scanned with another program and nothing showed up,is this a false positive?

Thank you for sharing the screenshot, Dede.

We request you to navigate to the file path and delete the "Reg-MSI_Inventory.exe" file and check if the threat pop-up still appears.
If the pop-up still appears, please submit the file for false-positive analysis using this link.
Thanks in advance.

This same thing has been happening to me since yesterday. I think there was an MS update prior. Happening on both of my computers - one with AVG and one with AVAST. I feel like its a false positive.

Hello Joe & Marc,

Thank you for reaching out to us in this matter.
Have you tried the steps mentioned by the other agent?
Kindly delete them and if the pop up occurs again, submit the file for false-positive analysis.

Hi,
I have the "Threat blocked" for "Reg-MSI_Inventory.exe" problem. From the above discussion I suspect a false positive. I could not report the problem via the .../false-positive-file-form because I am unable to locate the Reg-MSI_Inventory.exe. It is not in the folder stated. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I've got the exact same problem on my computer this morning as well. I quarantined the file, and am hoping everything will still run fine.
