Massive memory leak after today's AVG update

After i got the popup message to download the new update for AVG my PC kept getting slower till the point it completely froze , had to manually reboot it and checked the task manager to see the memory usage spiking to 99% then the PC freezes again. I already contacted the support for AVG and they logged remotely to check but it is still not fixed and now every time i start my PC the memory usage keeps slowly climbing till it reaches maximum value and then it freezes .

I saw in a previous post that other users had to uninstall AVG to fix this so plz check the latest patch and fix this asap.

Hello Youssef,

This isn't the usual behavior of AVG program. Let us work towards fixing the issue.
Can you confirm that you do not have any other security application installed in your PC other then AVG?
Having more than one will conflict and also caused PC slowness.
Let us know to assist you further.

Yes, this is the same bug with the update that happened for me. I would advise you, Rakshith, to get in touch with the AVG developers as soon as possible to correct this memory leak. There is clearly an error in the programming code in this latest update.

Thank you once again.

I have the same problem with my PC, under Windows 7 64bits, since the update (Version: 20.7.3140 20.7.5568.590) that I did on 2020-09-01. PC blocked, memory used at maximum and this without stopping, causing bugs, (closing the browser, blue screen, etc, etc.).
I did a previous system restore and I do not reinstall the AVG! update. I am even thinking about changing Antivirus, because more and more slowness, bugs, incentives to buy a paid version ... I find that it's getting aggressive.

Hi,

I was experiencing the same memory leak problem after updating to version 20.7.3140 yesterday.

After several hours of troubleshooting and trying this and that, eventually using this AVG option has helped to resolve that:

Menu / Settings / General / Troubleshooting / Reset To Default

After a reboot I was able to configure the program from scratch and there has been no reoccurrence of this memory leak problem so far.

Cheers,
Paweł
