AVG blocking google chrome browsing

For about a week now, maybe more, I haven't been able to browse using Google Chrome on my Windows PC. I've reset my Chrome settings multiple times, and after working for a while, I would begin to get the same error messages when i try searching even the most basic things on Google Chrome. I noticed that if I turned off the AVG web shield, Chrome worked. I also got to know from a community post that if I turned off HTTPS scanning, it should resolve the problem, but that hasn't worked for me.

What do I do?

this also affects Microsoft Edge on my PC
