I installed trial software. In process of running computer scan. It has been at 89% complete for 3.5 hours. Do I have a problem? I am running windows xp and my old protection by eset is still installed.
Hello Glenn. Which version of AVG is installed on your PC? It is generally not recommended to use more than one security solution on a single system. They will compete for resources, which may result in slowdowns, crashes or in no protection at all.
Thank you for the information, Glenn. Please perform repair of AVG Internet Security as mentioned in this article and check the status with the scan. Keep us apprised about the status.
Article refers to Windows 10, windows 8, and windows 7. I am running windows XP. Does AVG Internet Security product support windows XP operating system?? I may be spinning my wheels here.
Glenn, the latest version will not work on Windows XP. The older version (18.8) will work. Do you see the files being scanned on the scan progress window? If you do, check if the scan is stuck on same file or is it changing. If the files being scanned are changing, it does not mean the scan is stuck.
Scan gets stuck on performance issues (scanning for broken registry items). How do I get older version (18.8)? Is there someone I can talk with on the phone to get my issues taken care of? I have two computers that I want to protect with AVG. The other is windows 7. I'm spending too much time!!!
Glenn, performance issues scan is a campaign for other AVG product called AVG TuneUp. It is a performance improvement tool. I suggest that you can skip that scan. As per your previous messages, we understand that you already installed 18.8 version on the WIndows XP PC. Are you a paid or free user of AVG?
