Thank you for your response. Attached are two screenshots. The notifcation came out almost every hour. I have already reset my Chrome browser settings, no change.
Thank you for sharing the screenshot. Do you get this popup at random instances or when you visit a particular website on a specific browser? Also please add that website under exceptions in AVG Internet Security program and check if it helps. Thank you and please keep us informed.
It came out randomly, not any specifics websites. And all the websites I have visited in the past 2 days are either popular ones or ones that I visited all the time.
Do you know anything about the website jingermy.com?
I didn't want to go there afraid it might infect my laptop.
Thank you for the information. Did you try to access that website in different browser and check? In order to analyze the website, we request you to submit the URL for analysis through this https://www.avg.com/false-positive-file-formwebsite. If it is confirmed as safe, it will be whitelisted and the virus definitions database will be released through update. You will also get the status updated via email. Thank you.
What website are you talking about? Are you talking about jingermy.com? I have no idea what website is it as I have never gone to that site. I just saw it in the threat notification, that's the only time I saw that url.
We are sorry for the confusion. We have checked the screenshot. Let us try to update AVG Internet Security program and check whether you still get threat block message when you access the specific website.
I have been watching to see when does that threat notification came out. So far, it seems whenever I google something, whatever it is, that threat appeared. Attached is a screenshot, which is the same as the previous ones. What I don't understand is why did they have JINGERMY.COM on them instead of Google.com?
Thank you for letting us to know the status. Could you please click on "See details" option in the screenshot and take screenshot of enter threat detection message? So, we can check and confirm which program causing this issue.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused. We will help you to resolve the issue. We have offered our additional support through email. Please check for the email and connect back to us as soon as possible.
I received an email saying one of your tech help wants to do remote assistance. I don't know why it's necessary as I have given you all the details. If you have a solution, you can tell me in this thread. I am pretty tech savy and will be able to follow any instructions given. Whatever jingermy.com is, it's the culprit. Do you have any idea what's it? Does it has any relationship with Google.com since the threat came up whenever I googled something. And it seems like it's hiding in chrome.exe.
Hello John. We appreciate your efforts so far. We offered remote assistance to check if this pop up is appearing only when you use Chrome or on other web browsers too. If it is on all web browsers, we have to collect some logs from your PC and escalate this to our senior technicians for analysis. If it is only on chrome, the issue should have been caused by some malicious extention trying to communicate with this website. But since the issue persists even after resetting chrome to default settings, we would still like to collect necessary logs and escalate this to our senior technicians for analysis.
Hello Jason. If you are a paid user, please write your own post so that we can get your account details and assist you further. If you are using a free version of AVG AntiVirus, I would request you to share a screenshot of the threat detection pop up with 'See details' clicked and also provide all information that we requested above from John.
I think that has something to do with Google.com and not Chrome since it only appeared whenever I tried to google something. It doesn't come up in any of other websites I went to. I haven't changed any settings or added any extensions in Chrome for months now.
One thing I like to tell you though. A day ago, I signed up an account for Google Ads, that's when the threat appeared. Also after I signed up Google Ads, Chrome created a new profile under that Google account. I don't know if it's just co-incidence or Google Ads account is the culprit. And when I use Google.com with my new profile (Google Ads one), no threat appeared. They only appeared when I used my main Chrome account which I have used for years without any issues/
I also am trying to search using google chrome and getting the same error. I did a search on Mircofsoft edge and did not get the error. It only seems to be happening in Chrome.
I have AdBlock, LastPass and Video Downloader Pro. Those are the only 3 we both have. I don't think AdBlock and LastPass is the culprit as I have used them for years. I'll disable Downloader Pro to see if that helps. Will post the status later.
I have been doing some searches lately and strange enough, the threat did not appear any longer! I wonder if there's something to do between AVG, Chrome and Google.com.
Thank you for your efforts. From the above discussion, it is clear that Google Chrome is causing this issue. Please check for any unwanted extension or application installed on your computer. If there is any please remove the same and check if that stops this threat detection popup from AVG.
I would also like to inform you that the threat popup indicates that AVG has safely aborted any connection between this website and your computer. So your computer is safe and protected.
To further stop this from happening, I request you to check for unwanted/recently added extensions on Google Chrome and check if that stops this threat detection popup from AVG.
Well noted your message, John. If you receive the threat pop again, then take a screenshot of the notification and submit it through the AVG false-positive website for analysis. Thank you.

Having the same issues as you guys with jingermy although I have Malwarebytes giving me the warnings. I removed the Video Downloader Pro extension and things seem to work better. This seems to have solved it on my end.

Hi John Larsons and many others who are having the same issue with AVG/Google Chrome about (jingermy.com). I had this problem before many years ago. And recently I installed wallpapers for Chrome. So the setting change and the AVG safe search had added themselves to my browser. That's when it started acting up. Long story short. Uninstalled the AVG on the extension from your browser. You don't need that. As long as you have it on your taskbar on your PC/Laptop/Mac/Apple for protection. (Jingermy.com) will not appear anymore when you search whatever on Google. Hope that helps.

Hello Guys,
I have the same, i can confirm, it's only on chrome browser and only when we search something on google or Bing as well.
@John, Can you tell me what extension do you have to check what we have in common, i m pretty sure that's come from there.
You will find mine attached.
I have AdBlock, LastPass and Video Downloader Pro. Those are the only 3 we both have. I don't think AdBlock and LastPass is the culprit as I have used them for years. I'll disable Downloader Pro to see if that helps. Will post the status later.
Also Google Doc Offline as well.

Here is the list of my extensions I have in common with @Thomas Dewez :
Video downloader pro
Keepa
Adblock plus
I have disabled keepa, but no changes... Now I'm trying with adblock disabled,
Hello John,
Perfect, i just remove video downloader pro and the pop up don't come up anymore.
Thanks
Don't need AVG Support :p
I do think video Downloader pro is the culprit as AdBlock and LastPass are definitely safe.
We'll see how it goes.
Thank you.
SOLUTION: If you have Video Downloader Pro installed as a Chrome extension remove deactivate it and you'll see the threat detection go away.
PS: This forum site constantly asks to set cookie preferences. Annoying as H! Fix it please. Thanks.
