I recently install AVG Ultimate on my computer which includes Anti-Virus, TuneUp, Secure VPN and Anti-Track. However, my internet speed has slowed down significantly from 500mbps to about 300mbps. The same reduction in performance occurs both for download and upload speeds. My internet supplier had demonstrated to me that the problem is not with the internet because when he used his own laptop to check the internet speed at my house, the speed test showed just over 500mbps.
We're sorry to hear that. Let us narrow down the AVG program that could be causing this issue. To do this, we need to temporarily disable your AVG Internet Security, AVG Secure VPN & AVG AntiTrack. Refer to this article to temporarily disable your AVG Internet Security. For your AVG Secure VPN, turn off the slider button in the home/main window to disable it. For your AVG AntiTrack, please click on the "Anti-Tracking" tab in the main window & disable it. Please disabled these one by one & check which program is causing the issue. Keep us updated.
Thank you for checking the status. You may experience a slower internet connection when using AVG Secure VPN. This is because a VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server.
Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection. You can try to change the location in AVG Secure VPN and check if its help you.
Joshua, I appreciate your effort and cooperation. Let me try to clarify this to you. This brings us to the beginning because in general, high-speed drops are actually a normal thing to happen for VPN software. Since the main priority of AVG Secure VPN is security and privacy, so drop of internet speed is normal. I request you to change the location one by one in the AVG Secure VPN and let us know the maximum speed of your internet. Especially try the Streaming and optimal location on the AVG Secure VPN.
As my colleague has informed in the previous post, high-speed drops are actually a normal thing to happen for VPN software. Internet speed can drop from 1Gbps to 100Mbps easily due to various factors such as the security protocol that's being used, the layer of encryptions, how powerful is the hardware, and so on. AVG Secure VPN also has to connect to our VPN servers, go through secure tunnels, encrypt and decrypt all data sent and received. Still, all of this shouldn't be that significant while you are browsing & surfing. The loading speed of the websites could be a bit slower, but your online presence/activity will be well masked.

There are many reasons your Internet connection might appear slow. It could be a problem with your modem or router, Wi-Fi signal, signal strength on your cable line, devices on your network saturating your bandwidth, or even a slow DNS server. click here (https://worthyaffairs.com/how-to-get-your-boyfriend-to-love-you-again/)
I also experienced a massive slow don in internet speed.
I am a big fan of your software but as previously mentioned above the VPN can not be the issue with me since I am not using that option. My internet noramlly is really fast with 600Mbps Upload and Donload. but still it takes ages to even send an email or upload a 3mb pdf to my Onedrive account.
Could it be AVG is probably restricting something relevant for the speed or might there be any other issue I am not aware of?
We are really sorry to know this. We will check and help you with this issue.

Hi Sam My husband had the same issue. I build a new PC and after loading AVG it slowed it down so much, expecially his internet. He ended up using his phone more than his PC to access the internet. After a couple of compain sessions, I got fed up and went and deleted AVG off his pc and suddenly the PC is lighting fast. Internet pages opens up immediately, expecially Facebook. I now only run Windows Defender and Windows Firewall on his Pc and as it looks like I'm going to have to remove AVG off my PC as well. Can't stand waiting for ages for pages to open. I don't have VPN running on either PC's

I see this string has had no satisfactory response / solution. I too have suffered internet speed slow down. I've gone from Download speeds of 470Mbps all the way down to 160Mbps. I spent hours working with my internet provider, and Dell, and on my own. I get a hint that the issue is AVG related. I read community responses to the problem and no one has resolved it in order to regain their fast carrier provided speeds. I tried all the suggested fixes as listed in the support community.... no change. So I uninstalled all my AVG Apps.... yes, you guessed it, I'm back to 470 - 500 Mbps speeds. I won't be renewing my subscription and will get these support functions via another provider. Also... trying to search a topic on this "support community" is crazy... can't easily zero in on a topic or previous thread.

I have disabled AVG Internet Security and disabled AVG TuneUp, AVG Anti-Track and AVG Secure VPN. Even then I get speeds only upto 100 Mbps on a 1 Gb connection. If I uninstall AVG completely, then I receive speeds ranging betwee 850-950 Mbps. Why does this happen? There needs to be a permananet solution to this issue.
