Lost Passwords

I am using AVG Secure Browser and updated it (though it still keeps coming up with the pop up saying failed to update) and have lost all my passwords. 
After entering a password I get a pop-up asking if I want to save it.  I click on save and the password manager is empty.  I have tried adding a password manually and it shows in password manager but if I close password manager and go back into it, the password has disappeared.
I've tried restarting my laptop and resetting by settings using this:
Settings - Advanced - Restore settings to their original defaults, then select Reset settings to confirm ; but both have not fixed my issue.
