Also please provide us the complete error message including the code .Kindly let us know if you have earlier installed any AVG program or any other antivirus product in the computer/laptop in which you are now trying to install .

Thank you.

Thank you for responding.

AVG free version is what I am trying to install.  I have successfully had previous free version of AVG on my computer; uninstalled it as it said my registration code was no longer valid.  Began trying to install new AVG free version, and kept getting error message: Event exec finished.  I believe the code was 0xc007063.  To my knowledge, there is not another anti virus on my computer.

Thanks for assistance.
Kara SmithKara Smith
0xc0070643 is correct error code; I just tried to install again, and failed.  That was the resulting error message.

If you guys haven't had any luck on this. On my son's windows tablet he was missing a file (msvcp110.dll) related to visual C++. I reinstalled Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4,  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679 . Make sure that it is 2012 and not 2014 or 15 they wont reinstall the needed file. I ran the AVG remover and deleted all references to AVG and reinstalled AVG. Worked for me, I hope this helps.

This is happening to me as well. I had the AVG Free Trial and my free trial expired today. When I opened AVG it said I was not protected but it wouldn't give me an option to downgrade to AVG Free so I tried to uninstall AVG and re-install AVG Free. After my AVG Free install which went through perfectly, I opened AVG, it updated but then it told me that my license number had an error. I'm trying to uninstall again and it won't work. I've tried the AVG removal tools, they keep giving me errors. I've tried the AVG Fix tool and that didn't fix anything and now I am stuck on this screen. I'm not sure what to do at this point, I can't get AVG uninstalled and it doesn't seem to be updating. I'm also getting the corrupted download error when I try to update AVG as well by the way.I'm confused and at this point I just want to rid my computer of ALL AVG products and use a different antivirus because this is ridiculous.User-added image

I have the same problem, with a slight twist - AVG Internet Security had been installed, but then it stopped working in the last week. I tried to Repair, that didn't work, so used the AVG removal tool to remove it. Now, upon trying to install my *paid* version I get the same error as everyone else. I have saved the install error log but can't see how to append it as a file attachment to this comment.

FWIW, I have two completely unrelated computers. A Windows 10 machine a few years old and an older Windows 7 64-bit laptop. Both toss up exactly the same error when I've tried to install AVG Free Edition. There is no other anti-virus software on either computer. I tried the AVG removal tool also. Same story. I also tried uninstalling all the older Visual C++ redistributables and put the latest one on, and that made no difference. I suspect this is a massive problem. It's too far fetched and too much of a coincidence for two entirely unrelated PC's with completely different operating systems, to show up exactly the same problem. The only thing they would have in common is that both ran AVG in the past. I suspect only 1 in 1000 people with a problem like this is likely to register on the AVG forums and report the issue, as I have done.

Currently I'm trying to get rid of this damnation called AVG. I have tried to get rid of it with ANY of the methods told, but it leeched on my PC so badly that it refuses to uninstall. My last resort was to uninstall it manually from the control panel. I tried that and eventually got this. Help me get rid of your AVG. No, I refuse to download any of the ''AVG tools'' to help me get rid of this since I know it will leech on my PC as well.

So I'll be looking elsewhere for a better antivirus because this is truly bs, folks, with this many people having issues. Avast, here I come....

I'm happy to report the AVG removal tool worked for me.
  • The problem: AVG warned me of an 'unrecognized' serial code upon startup. Re-entering the existing code failed. Downloading and installing a fresh instance AVG yielded an exec_finished error. Windows 7 Pro, no other anti-virus software active, tried free fersion AVG_Protection_Free_698.exe and the Cnet Zen version AVG_Protection_Free_1115.exe.
  • How it got solved: I ran the AVG removal tool, rebooted, ran it again (just for fek's sake), rebooted again, manually deleted the AVG Remover folder. Then downloaded Avast, but felt I should give AVG one final chance (since it hasn't ever let me down before). Installed the 1115 version to a different drive. This one installed OK and is scanning my HDs as we speak. Interestingly, Windows Defender should have been running, since I activated and updated it just before I ran the AVG remover, but it wasn't when I installed AVG anew.
Thanks for the support.

Also may help: I deliberately installed the English-language version of AVG. Before I removed AVG, it wouldn't let me do that, which is a real shame (because as a rule of thumb I hate software that's been translated to my own language).

Hello Kara,
We are glad to know that the installation of your AVG Free program was successful. I would also like to keep you informed that 'Windows defender' is a default antivirus program to protect your computer/laptop and it will not be conflicting to AVG. Regarding your recent response, am I correct in understanding that you were not given an option to change the language of your AVG program after installing and you are concerned about it? Thank you.

@ Joris van Dorp
Joris, Before Windows 8 [i.e. your Win 7], Windows Defender featured just antispyware capabilities. In Windows 8 & later functionality was increased to offer antivirus protection as well. Therefore it could conflict with AVG. When using AVG you should only have 1-AV prog installed on your system.

Has anyone had any success uninstalling AVG Free?  I've had all the errors you folks have mentioned and no luck uninstalling with any of the solutions.

I'm beginning to think that Is AVG itself a virus?!?  They messed up all my browsers and default search engines.  This is so sad.

I really hope there is a fix besides completely wiping my hard drive!

I have the same problem as everyone here. I have used AVG for years and this is the first time I have had this problem. My laptop (Windows 7) has been trying to get me to Switch to Windows 10. I just restarted and it randomly came up saying I had no Virus Protection and I needed a key for AVG. I just went to reinstall AVG and got the same error as everyone else. It fails at about 96%. Error code: 0xC0070643.
 Help pls.

Hi,
I had AVG on my old labtop win7-FR witohut any issue. I bought a new labtop with windows 8, provided with McAfee pre-installed.

I wanted to put AVG, Free first, and same issue as everybody here: the installation fails with the 0xC0070643.
I followed this post and tried:
- unsintall with the AVG remover (many versions)
- re-install online
- re-install with an offline installation
- I used the MCAfee remover tool (MCPR)
- I used the fix AVG_BFEFix.exe

My Os is Windows 8.1, I 'm living in Thailand, so, I bough the machine there. OS is in English.

Could you please help?
Thanks,

Could you guys please post an actual solution for this problem instead of the same redundant scripting, copy & pasting? I am also having this same issue and have been using AVG for as long as I've had a pc & now with all this Zen crap I had to wrestle with this problem. Is there a fix or are you all blowing smoke up our asses?
Rajarajan SooiyachanthRajarajan Sooiyachanth (Avast)
Hello Adam,
For the Error code: 0xC0070643 Description: Event exec finished, we suggest the customers to remove conflicting antivirus products(if any) and then remove AVG traces using 'AVG Remover Tool' to start the installation once again. Most of the customers are able to resolve the issue by following these basic steps. If the issue persists even after following all these steps, we are offering them additional support. Once they connect with our senior technicians they will be able to provide alternative solution. Have you already followed all the basic steps in this 'thread' to resolve the issue? Thank you.

I've been having the same problem when I tried to install the AVG free edition, the error was "AVG Installation Failed" Please answer me if you have the solution to this problem

Hello Sam,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Do you receive any error code? Did you remove conflicting antivirus products if any(http://avgread.me/1K1IqEh)? Did you earlier try 'AVG Remover Tool' to remove AVG traces and then tried reinstalling your AVG Free? Thank you.

I've had this problem for a really long time now and finally solved it by myself after several unnerving hours which made me really angry. In my case it was a lack of space on 'C:'. I know, 4GB free disk space isn't that much but I would have liked to be informed by the installation itself instead of diggin in the dark for so many hours(/days!) and installing two extra tools.
Maybe this helps for other users because I nearly broke up with AVG after following all those standard-hints again and again and again. I also was disappointed to reach this 'thread' only by typing the error code 'Event exec_finished' into the google search bar but not when I searched for the problem on the linked AVG-Site. (sorry for bad english)
