STUPID avg pop up message "Fix Common PC Problems"
I'm beginning to detest AVGs messages!
First, as SOON as my PC fully loads, AVG IMMEDIATELY starts throwing whichever message avg wants to send "everyday". DELAY THIS BY 15 MINUTES! AVG is NOT the most important thing that I want to do when I turn on my PC!
Second, AVG does this MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY! ONE is ENOUGH!
Third, tonight's message is "Fix Common PC Problems". Well, guess what? AVG programmers FORGOT TO PUT CANCEL OR NO ON THIS SCREEN! So there it sits, OPEN, an hour later, taking up my system resources. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO RE-START MY PC JUST TO GET RID OF AN AVG MESSAGE!
Fourth, these messages are turning off people who OTHERWISE LOVE your program!
TURN OFF THE NON-CRITICAL MESSAGES!! IF i WANT TO DO SOMETHING EXTRA WITH AVG, I KNOW HOW TO RESEARCH AND FIND IF AVG CAN DO IT FOR ME.
Now, I need to go restart my PC and PRAY YOUR MESSAGE GOES AWAY. THANKS A LOT FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!
Hello Judy. Apologies from AVG. Please ignore that. That's just a campaign and it will disappear within a couple of days or so. Thank you for your understanding.
1. Users' PCs should NOT be taken over by a pop-up from a legitimate, respected program/company.
2. USERS SHOULD NOT NEED TO WAIT "A COUPLE DAYS" FOR IT TO DISAPPEAR!!!
3. The box contains NO BUTTONS--- not Accept, not Ignore, not CANCEL. Therefore, this "campagn" FAILS because there are NO BUTTONS. What a wasted effort. IF a customer wants what your selling, but CANNOT because there is NO ACCEPT BUTTON, then AVG just annoyed the heck out of a potential paying customer!
END THIS CAMPAIGN NOW--- GO FIX THE SCREEN SO IT HAS ACCEPT, LATER, IGNORE, CANCEL BUTTONS ON IT ! My gawd, simple linking. Your company doesn't need to annoy people because of AVG's incompetence and failure to provide working links identified with clickable links!
Hi J.F, extremely apologize for the inconvenience caused. We have fixed this issue and you wont be receiving the pop up messages anymore. If you still receive any pop up messages regarding AVG, I request you to move your mouse pointer towards the top right corner of the Pop up. You will be able to close it by clicking on that close option present there. Thanks.
Hello Judy, Could you please let us know the name of the AVG product you have installed in your pc? also provide us the screenshot http://avgread.me/1aZxsAV of the pop up to assist you better. Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
Hello Lazarus, Could you please let us know the name of the AVG product you have installed in your pc? also provide us the screenshot http://avgread.me/1aZxsAV of the pop up to assist you better. Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
I had to call. AVG had to escalate it, because the teeny tiny x on the AVG pop up does NOT work. The Senior AVG team had to do Remote and uncheck start up items etc. for the AVG program.
By the way, I've now had 3 separate types of AVG pop ups that would not stop. Each time required I call, get to escalation, do Remote, etc.
The only nice comment I have is the tech staff are very nice.
BUT the developers should not have pop up problems occur in the first place! Most of mine occurred after the forced auto uninstall of the old and auto install of the new 2016 AVG Free.
Call them... they'll fix it. Of course, my 3 calls meant nearly 6 hours total of being on the phone with them, plus time for the Remote help. Like I don't have better things to do than spend time on AVG programming errors.

This topic is CLOSED unless I post again with a new occurrence.
Tech already had me do those steps (uninstall; reinstall; change start-up items; Escalation to Remote techs x3). Been all over "Run" (msconfig, appwiz.cpl, cmd) etc. Did SysInfo Tool--- twice.
PLEASE do not keep telling me to repeat the tech steps that have already been completed.
AGAIN, this is a DEVELOPER's issue. DEVs making the X on a box be working and clickable solves the issue for every user.
NOTE to Users, here is what was done for WinXPro SP3: 1. Uninstall > Reinstall 2. Use AVG Tech's Uninstall Tool > Reinstall - Takes more time to complete but makes a fresh copy. 3. In msconfig, start up items, they unchecked 3 items starting with ROC_ (Double check the URL - make sure the path says AVG). Check Selective Start Up. Restart PC. 4. In Add-Remove look for extra items from AVG. ASK their tech people what parts you can uninstall.
That was it, nothing more. But it is still a DEVELOPER issue. Provide NO button on offer screens!
I'm sick of it too. 8/29/2016 EVERYONE wants to know how to turn it off permanently and all we get are lies about "campaigns" or just close the box. That isn't a fix.
It took from January 2016 to July 18th 2016 for AVG program updates to FINALLY make the WebTuneUp box STOP and for the browser auto-opening to an AVG page to STOP.
This was after at least 5 unsuccessful Remote sessions with AVG escalation team.
I finally stopped contacting AVG after an email address that I do not use on any website, but was open for a brief moment when one AVG Remote Tech was on my computer, is now trying to be hacked by people over in AVG's area of the world. This began after I agreed to Remote services.
Overall, I give AVG a grade F- for how poorly they handled my AVG problem with their numerous "campaigns" from January to July, and I call foul on any tech copying a person's private email address and putting that account at risk with hackers.
I am furious about what I went through. It's sad, because it is usually a great program.

Come on!
My user ID for this forum is J.F.
If this continues, it's a reason to drop all AVG applications.
TYhere has to be a way out, there has to be a way to stop these annoying messages!

I'm giving them a couple of weeks to come up with a fix. If not, I'll simply dump the product. It's as simple as that.
Yep I contact AVG; they make it stop for 24 hours. I contact AVG again; they make it stop for 24 hours. Just re-contacted AVG this morning!
I left the box (see Lazarus' post above) yesterday-- it stayed ALL day!
Tell Developers the box needs buttons for NO, OPT OUT, or GO AWAY. OR make the X-out clickable.
If a user doesn't click it the first 5 times, the user will not accept it after 10, 15, 20 times. By 5 times, users are annoyed!
What a huge waste of everyone's time and energy.
