Virus removal

I did a scan using the free version of AVG and detected several viruses all starting with: Win32/DH and continuing with varius other lettering. When i had the program remove them to the virus vault i suddenly lost all use of my wireless adaptor. I couldn't update the software or utilize my browsers to find a different program to remove them. Since then I have gone into the virus vault and restored them, regaining the use of my internet based programs. However the virus is still on my computer, and according to some info i found online it has the ability to spread to the rest of my computer. How do I get rid of these without sacrificing my internet capabilities?
