promos.mcafee.com

How do I stop promos.mcafee.com hijacking my browser?  I am using Google Chrome and IE, and it does it either way.  It does not switch what I have open in my browser to promos.mcafee.com.  Rather, a new browser opens with it as its homepage of sorts

Hi James,I will help you resolve  may I know which AVG program have you installed in your computer ? . You can solve this issue by resetting your browser
Reset your browsers first by following the steps as mentioned at the following links
1. Internet Explorer:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/reset-internet-explorer-settings
2. Chrome:  https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214
