NCA and GOZeuS - Cryptolocker

Thanks for the reference Alan. It seems that Norman Antivirus, whatever that may be is not likely to be any more effective than AVG. Also I'm grateful for confirmation from AVG that it is never advisable to run two anti virus programs at the same time.
What concerns me is that my ISP advises that we have only a limited opportunity to ensure protection. We are given a maxim of 10 days from now to protect ourselves. After this time the  NCA anticipates the malware will have been adaped to overcome counter measures.
I appreciate the AVG staff comments but I'm not confident that a less knowledgeable user like me will know how to detect the suspicious activities mentioned even though we take every reasonable precaution. I suppose we must rely on AVG to continually search for new ways to protect us. It would be nice to get some positive reassurance from them.

I must add that I will put the Security of my computers in the hands of AVG before anyone else. I have been using AVG for 5-6 years now and have not had any problems at all. As far as Norton goes, back in the days of the Norton Utilities and DOS systems, I lived by Peter Norton. But I must say that my experience with his anti-virus and internet security systems have been nothing but dreadful. Pay attention to the emails you open and put your trust in AVG because they will do the best they can to stay on top of things :-))

To add to Edward's comments, AVG detected something in an email link that I triggered. I thought the source was a trusted location and clicked "Allow". This was my undoing as no sooner than I pressed allow then I got a screen saying that all my files are now encrypted and I would have to purchase the decryption software (Ransom).
When this happened I ran the AVG scan again but it did not detect any malware on the machine. I followed the instructions in another post that allowed me to download some software caled Reimage to get back my laptop. This fixed the windows O/S but I have lost ALL my files.
I am trying to find the initial link I followed as this software detected and cleaned off this Malware.
I followed the link as follows:
