AVG stopped working

All of a sudden this morning my computer is saying AVG protection is turned off but when I try to turn it on nothing happens. When I click on AVG to show everything that is supposed to be protected it is saying THERE ARE NO ACTIVE COMPONENTS and under each thing it's supposed to be protecting it's saying UNKNOWN. I hit scan and nothing happens. Any ideas what is going on? Thank you. Joan

I tried that about 3 times and it gets about 2/3 of the way and then it says I don't have access to stop the Firewall. ??? not sure what that means. I'm getting very frustrated and I'm about to ask for a refund since it hasn't been 30 days. The error message told me to click on this link for answers and when I did AVG said there were no answers to that message and I needed to pay them 19.95 to have a professional to set up and install it properly. It's been working fine and I'm sure not going to pay more money for it. Thanks for answering. :)

Do I need to uninstall AVG before I do this? I used AVG all last year and it worked fine. I did have to do this same thing once but it worked that time and now it won't work. Help :(

Joan, In case the issue persists, please reinstall your AVG as described in the article (http://avgclick.me/howtoreinstallAVG).

Alan, Even when I try to uninstall it I get that same message about the AVG Firewall can't be stopped. Anything else I can try? Joan

Alan, I wanted to let you know that I just got my AVG working..finally. I did want to say thank you for your help. I tried to repair and as I told you that didn't work and when I tried to uninstall that didn't work either. I scrolled further down on the page you sent me and found something that said if the uninstall didn't work to download avg removal tool...well, that didn't work either. It kept telling me that my internet wasn't working. Finally at my wits end I went online and typed AVG Removal Tool and downloaded it from there and within 5 minutes it was completely uninstalled and I was able to reload it. I just wanted to let you know what problems I'd had and hopefully they can fix the links on that page to save others from having the hours of frustration that I had. I am happy now...it's working great. Thanks again for your help. Joan.

OK Joan, No probs.. Pleased to see that you appear to be now sorted. Thanks for returning to the Community & posting. Which AVG Removal Tool did you end up using?.

Alan, if I'm not mistaken I used

http://www.techsupportall.com/avg-uninstall-tool-64bit/

I couldn't swear to it though. I know I had to choose the 64 bit for Windows 7. I'm almost positive that is the link I used..

Thanks. Joan

Struggling with non-AVG technology? We can fix that, too!
