AVG reporting C:Windows\System32\MRT.exe INFECTED

AVG Internet Security reports MRT.exe infected. AVG blocked object several times and then deleted
C:\Windows\Temp\331B372F-74B9-545. Is this a real threat that should be dealth with?

Hello Mary. I am sorry to hear that. If you are sure that the MRT.exe is not infected you can add it to the exception list so that the file will not be scanned by the AVG program. Please have a look at this article http://avgread.me/18WB2dg to add a file to the exception list. and if you wish to restore the files from the virus vault have a look at this article http://avgread.me/1BjJf8A . Thank you.

Here is the same on Notebook and PC.
MRT.exe found in C:\Windows\System32 is blocked on Notebook and deleted and quarantined on PC, after running todays Windows monthly updates.
The file is sent now to AVG for analysing.
I´am thinking about a false positive...
MRT.exe is the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
best regards Daniel
