AVG for Windows XP

Can I use the free AVG version for my Windows XP system?

Noticed that I can download past AVG versions as well as, is that a better way to go to obtain a version that will work?

Windows Vista (x86 and x64, all editions)

Windows 8 (x32 and x64)
(and possibly higher service packs for specific operating systems)
