Danielle Moffat Web Tuneup won't uninstall
Okay, so after downloading the uninstall tool it appears that AVG is no longer on my pc. This is great but I thought that it would also remove the AVG Web Tuneup; it did not. Everytime I try to uninstall it using by way of add/remove program files (vista), it asks for permission (as per usual) then i don't know freezes? Nothing happens and it is still on the list. I've tried it a few times and nothing. Is there another removal tool that I need to download for this app also?

I uninstalled AVG Web Tuneup by manually deleting all files associated with it.
Heres the steps:
1) Go to "Local Disk (C:)/Program Files (x86)/AVG Web Tuneup" in My Computer and delet everything inside that folder.
2) Then go to the Control Panal and uninstall AVG Web Tuneup.
3) The computer will tell you that it has already been uninstalled; click ok and your done.
THATS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO! :)
I am so upset.. I just finally deleted the directory with AVG Tune up and now my computer is fast again, after fighting this for six months. I had even tried the remove utility a few times over the past six months or so.

* Cleared cache
* Ran registry cleaning programs
* Cleaned registry
* Restored registry
* Restored the system
* Called computer support at my Internet provider
Dozens of other things.. SO ANGRY. Hours and hours of time wasted.
I bellieve this software is great if you install it but i sucks that it is hard to removed from the control panel.

So in programs I just moved the AVG folders (there were 3) went to uninstall in control panel; and it worked as you said.

So, now I discover that the culprit seems to be that I am unable to uninstall AVG Web Tuneup. Like others, each time I "uninstall," nothing happens. Was ready to do a complete restore on my laptop until I saw this thread. :-)
Uh, why, why, why, why, why did AVG's own Tech Support not know this? Why were they so ready to pass the buck to Microsoft? Very disappointed in AVG. Very.
After AVG updated itself to a new version a few days ago, I was getting an error popup about vprot.exe. By researching online I found out that the file is related to AVG Web Tuneup and that I should remove Web Tuneup to resolve the problem. I tried every way in the world to remove this program - AVG uninstaller, Windows uninstall (from Control Panel/Programs and Features, using Windows Safe Mode, turning off all components of AVG, turning off AVG self-protection - and STILL could not get rid of this stupid program with this annoying error. I finally downloaded Revo Uninstaller Pro for a 30-day free trial, and it ran the uninstall program and then let me delete the associated registry entries and all associated files. This worked!!!!!!!!!
I was unsure about downloading from Revo until I found an article on Kim Komando's site recommending it. So it is a safe program to use.
I did leave AVG's "self protection" turned off while I uninstalled and removed the files. I had earlier tried to delete the AVG Tuneup folder manually and got an error saying that another program was using (at least) one of the files, but that was before I turned off "self protection." But that would not have removed the registry entries, so I'm glad I used the Revo Uninstaller. I got rid of the error message about vprot.exe and everything else seems to be working fine.
