Ukash virus

Has anyone else been attacked by this virus? AVG does not seem to protect you aainst this. Why not? I had to pay for Enigma Malaware software to get rid of it. Can AVG tell me why they don't seem to recognise it? Or if they do, how can I use my AVG to kill it?

Hi there.
The UKash virus suddenly appears on your screen whilst you are on-line and you cannot exit Explorer other than by forcing a shut down. If you then restart and go back to Explorer the virus is still active in blocking any further explorer activity and fills the screen.

Thank you for your offer of help via the remote support, but you have not grasped what I wrote about initially. I had to buy a competitors software (Enigma) to rid myself of this virus. My AVG software did not protect me from it. This is what it is:-
The so-called Ukash Virus is a ransomware Trojan that receives its name because Ukash Virus requires that its victims use Ukash (a legitimate money transfer service) to transfer the ransom funds. This dangerous Trojan infection is composed of a Winlocker component that basically blocks access to the infected computer system, disabling access to the infected computer system's desktop, Task Manager, command line, Registry Editor and other services and applications. There are countless variants of the Ukash Virus, designed to target various different countries in Europe and North America. ESG malware analysts strongly advise against paying the ransom that this malware infection tries to extort from its victims. Instead, variants of the Ukash Virus should be removed with the help of a reliable anti-malware application.
So, why doesn't your system protect against it? I wish it did!

Hi

Thank you for your offer. The virus has already been removed by your competitors software, I am questioning why your software does not deal with it????

Hello David, I certainly understand your point. But the thing is each and every Antivirus software program will have different virus database definitions. Our engineers have been striving round the clock to find out new virus databases to be added in the future updates. So I request you to keep updating the program regularly. AVG might not detect one of more viruses which the other programs can clean. But the other programs may not clean some viruses which AVG could clean so easily. That's how it works. Please update the program regularly for better efficiency. Thank you for your understanding.

Yes David, unfortunatly i have the exact same ukash ransomware virus that you speak about. AVG completly missed the virus failing to even notice it or flag up any kind of a warning that i was being infected let alone stop the virus or remove it. The antivirus was fully up to date
i am now locked out of my pc other than the fake met police notice demanding money to unlock it.
Quite laughable that the virus victim knew more about the threat than the avg support staff did.  They still havent discovered it to add fo their database despite it being in the wild since 2012 !!! Dunno how the hell they expect a remote support connection. What part of being completly locked out and unable to do anything dont these people understand. The saying "pay peanuts get monkeys" springs to mind

Hi Chris
It seems you'll have to invest in Enigma software to cure this virus. I really don't understand AVG's reluctance to address this issue.
