Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working 2003 - AVG 2015 Free the culprit

I've been using Outlook 2003 on Windows 7 for about 4 years now. Recently I started getting this error message after Outlook would be open for 10 seconds: Outlook is not working and has to close. I did all sorts of troubleshooting, and it turns out the culprit was AVG 2015 Free Edition. After a lot of troubleshooting, I had a sneaking suspicion AVG was responsible. I first tried disabling it to no avail, then I tried stopping it using the task manager and it wouldn't let me, then I tried stopping it from running at start up by using msconfig which didn't work either - it started anyways. Finally I had no choice but to uninstall the beast and low and behold Outlook is behaving normally now!

I would like to complain about the following:
1. There should be a way to completely TURN OFF AVG, not just temporarily disable.
2. I should be able to STOP the process using task manager.
3. When I uncheck "start with windows" in msconfig, AVG should abide by that command and not just start anyways.

Why would AVG 2015 Free Edition mess up my Outlook 2003 and if i re-install it, how do i prevent it from doing it again? (and NO, I don't want to upgrade to a newer version of Outlook, 2003 works just fine for me)

Hello Robert, I apologize for the inconvenience caused. AVG Program will be running in the back ground since it is mandatory for a system. That is the reason you are not able to stop it from task manager or cannot be remove from the start up.

For the out look issue, I request you to contact Microsoft support and get PST tool. Once you run it, please reconfigure your outlook.

Then please try repair of AVG by downloading the repair package from below link:

For 32-bit: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG/avg_isc_x86_all_2015_6134p1.exe
For 64-bit: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG/avg_isc_x64_all_2015_6134p1.exe

Download and run the file and make sure that your AVG program is already installed on your PC. You will get the option as "REPAIR" please select it and continue with the onscreen instructions and you wont be having any issues after this.
