Starting Watch Dog Initialization

My Dell laptop updated this morning.  Things started to get slower and slower.  Then it rebooted and I got a black screen the a series of statements... Starting Watch Dog Initialization; Loading Config, Pre initialization events, etc.  Final line is Phase 1: finished.

I've read some of the 'fixes" but not seem to work.  SHIFT + F8 when applied does nothing.  Windows will not load.  I am on another laptop typing this question.  My Dell doesn't have a cd drive so I'm going to try to download the rescue disk as mentioned.

Is there anything else I can try?

Hello Lorri,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
May I know the name of AVG program installed on your PC, is it free, trial or paid version?
Have you tried booting your PC into Safe Mode? If not, please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1JwmD6g to boot your PC into safe mode.
For Windows 8 and 10, please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://www.howtogeek.com/107511/how-to-boot-into-safe-mode-on-windows-8-the-easy-way/ to boot into Safe mode.
If the safe mode doesn't help then the best recommendation is to use our AVG Rescue CD. Since your laptop doesn't have a CD drive, please try rescue file from a USB drive.
For complete instructions of AVG Rescue CD, please have a look at this guide http://www.avg.com/226386 .
Please feel free to contact us if you need any assistance.

Hello, I wasn't able to access the USB drive to utilize the AVG Rescue CD.  I was running the Free version of AVG plus a web something that was updated yesterday.  I called Dell and we kept rebooting.  The F8 key wouldn't do anything.  Finally windows tried to repair itself (after being on the phone with tech support for an hour) and the computer booted up normally.  I immediately uninstalled both AVG products.  I have always used AVG and feel like I've lost a friend :(

Lorri, we are sorry to know that you couldn't able to access the AVG Rescue from the USB drive. We really appreciate your efforts and we are glad to know that you were able to boot your PC normally. Some of our users have come up with this Watchdog issue and we have escalated this to our developers team. Soon we will find the fix and release it in our future updates.
