AVG AntiVirus Free on Windows 10: rootkit scan freezes

Hello. AVG AntiVirus Free's rootkit scan freezes and it is not possible to pause or stop it. I have already unistalled the program through AVG Remover and reinstalled it from scratch but the issue keeps occurring. Any suggestions?

We are sprry to know that the scan issue still persists after reinstall. To assist you better, could you please let us know the version of AVG installed. Please open the AVG AntiVirus Free  and click on the support tab to check the version installed?

Hello. Thank you for your prompt reply. I tried another restore in Control Panel and everything seems working now. So I’d consider the problem solved. By the way, getting here to make this post took me a long time, browsing dozens of pages, like walking in circles. I strongly advise to make the support part of the site more straightforward. Hello,
I have the same problem as Delia, but I am unable to resolve it.
The laptop is a Toshiba with Intel i7-4700MQ; Windows 10 Famille (French) v. 1607 - 14393.321; AVG Free v. 16.111.7797 .
Could you please tell me how to have AVG running normally again? It is unclear (to me) what she did !

We would like to let us know whether you have installed AVG paid or a free version on your system and also please check whether you have installed AVG 2015or 2016 version. Thanks for the answer!
As I wrote in my previous message, I use 2016 AVG Free v. 16.111.7797 .
In the meantime, I could go out from freezing, making a complete restart of the system.
After applying today's database, I started again a complete scan, and I see from the reports page that AVG is frozen at C:/Windows/System32/drivers/volmgrx.sys , as yesterday.
Now I will restart to stop the process.
Any suggestion?

I restarted the PC three times and now AVG scans without freezing !
