Unable to reinstall AVG free on Windows XP SP3 (32 bit).Error code 0xc007001d

Hi
I am unable to reinstall AVG free on a Windows XP SP3 (32 bit) PC. I have run the uninstall and reset access programs but keep getting the above error code. Never had  a problem previously with installing AVG free on this PC.
Will be very grateful for a solution.

Alan,

We do understand your concern, we apologize for the difficulties. In this case, we need to remove the traces of older AVG.

Go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type “Temp” and remove all the files. Go to Run window and type “%temp%” and remove all the files. Go to Run window and type %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders. Go to Run window and type %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.

Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files, now run the AVG remover tool : http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG to uninstall your AVG program.

Then click this link http://www.avg.com/us-en/download to download your AVG program, run the downloaded file to start the installation process and follow the instructions on your screen.

Complete the installation, restart your computer and check for the results. Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.

Dear Ranjani, Kishore,

I have the same error code. I have done all steps as mentioned in the answer of Ranjani, removing all traces of avg software.I downloaded again the Internet Security paid version (as I have paid for the license end of 2015), but immediately after executing the file, again I receive the same error code.

Downloading the free version, the same error code appears immediately after executing the file.

Maybe following is related to this installing error:
End of 2015 I updated Internet Security paid version without any problem. Than some months ago, I started receiving more or less following error message from microsoft (I translate into English from the original message in Dutch):  AVGWDSVC.EXE has had a problem and has to be closed. Our apologies. If you were working on something, the data being worked at, can be lost. Tell Microsoft about this problem. We have create an error report that you can send to us...blablabla.Send report.

So that is when I tried to write again the license number into existing internet Security, which could not be updated for months. Now finally I have removed all AVG program traces, but is still impossible to execute the downloaded AVG file.

MY PC is pretty old and has following data:
Windows XP home edition version 2002, service pack 3
Acer incorporated
Processor: AMD Athlon (tm) XP 2400+
Clock velocity: 1.99GHz 736 MB

Thanks for help, Bas

Bas,
We appreciate your efforts in trying to fix the issue but we apologize. Our latest update of AVG program requires at least 1.3 GB of free space. Please make sure that you have the required space for installation. If the issue persists, please do let us know, we will assist you further. Thank you!

Dear Ranjani, thanks for quick reply.

I have 57 GB free on C drive. No other drive  on this PC. So unfortunately lack of free space is not the answer.

Please tell me what kind of error is this code 0xc007001d

best regards, Bas
