Brian Moe How to uninstall free AVG AntiVirus for Mac
I have the free version of AVG Antivirus for Mac. It has no menu bar, no dropdowns, no uninstaller.
How do I get rid of this? I want to completely delete it from my Mac. The date on the app in Finder is November 13, 2015, if that helps identify a version.
When I go to the Activity Monitor, I can't even "Force Quit" it, it keeps coming back!

Ah-ha, I found the "Uninstall" option and have ininstalled. My apologies, I thought that the Uninstall option would be within the app window, not on the top-of-screen menu. I guess I'm not used to my Mac yet after years of Windows! Many thanks, case closed!

I cannot take a screenshot. The choices under scan options are Mac Scan with the green outline of a computer screen, Deep Scan with a green bug, and File Scan with the green outline of a file folder.

Thanks for the instructions. The first instructions did not work - nothing happens when I click the AVG on the top bar, there is no menu drop-down.
I found the GO, Utilities, Terminal, and pasted the command line. It asked for the password. Then a screen came up that said:
Uninstall AVG Antivirus for MAC?
If you are sure, please confirm uninstallation of the application and authorize yourself to make changes.
All of this would be fine EXCEPT the 'uninstall' button is greyed out and nothing happens when I click it or anywhere on the box...
We regret the inconvenience. Open AVG Antivirus for Mac and click on Menu icon at the top left of your Mac screen. You won't get Menu bar on your Antivirus interface.
Follow the below steps to uninstall old version of AVG Antivirus for Mac.
To uninstall AVG 15 -
Open Finder > Applications > right click on AVG AntiVirus.app > select Show package contents > open Contents folder > double click on Uninstaller.app.
To Uninstall AVG 17
Run uninstallation from /Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/com.avg.uninstall.app
If the issue persists, share the screenshot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361 of your Uninstaller interface where the option is greyed out.
I'm experiencing similar, yet a bit different problem:
I was previously using Free version of AVG Antivirus on my Mac but I had it removed and now, since I'm trying to re-instal again, I'm getting a message that another version of this software is alreaddy installed and running, please unninstal the older version...
I have checked and checked. I have no Folders or any trace of AVG files on my system, yet, every time I try to re-install it, messga keeps poping up, preventing me to proceed. I guess, there is some process or script that runs in Background preventing me to continue.
Please let me know if you have any advice on how should I proceed?!

I get :"Installation Error
AVG Antivirus is already installed, please uninstall the previous version first.
I can not detect any evidence of a previous version.
