Hello. Tried to get the new free version installed. The previous version can't be removed completely and thus the installation failed with error code 0xe001f98d. What do I do to remove the obstinant remnants so I install the new version?
Kindly download your AVG remover and run it, then go to C: drive -> AVG Remover -> Bin -> pctremover.exe and avgfmwremover.exe (do not restart your device if prompted), then run avgremover.exe (it will automatically reboot your device).
Then please remove AVG folders manually as suggested below. Go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders.
1. Type “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files. 2. “%temp%” and remove all the files. 3. %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders. 4. %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.
Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files and download your AVG program from our official site: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download.

Has a solution for this problem been found? I too am unable to re-install AVG Free and get the error message 0xe001f98d. The AVG remover can't find AVG on my system.

Sorry to hear about that. Please try to run the remover tool anyway though it does not detect any AVG apps installed on your PC.
